For Immediate Release, July 25, 2011 A day of mixed results for Team Falken at the British Drift Championship Round 3, Teesside saw two of the team’s cars retired from competition due to mechanical issues and the third driven by Matt Carter claiming his third consecutive 2nd place podium position.
Fresh back from a demo at the Nürburgring, Germany in front of thousands of die hard race fans, Team Falken UK were in high spirits and ready for the third round of the 2011 British Drift Championship. Due to hard use at the Nürburgring event all three cars needed some maintenance and repairs to be made prior to the event.
Paul Cheshire’s Nissan Skyline G35 had developed a front pulley problem which was affecting the power steering when under load, during the Germany demos the front pulley had failed meaning fast repairs were needed upon arrival back in the UK. With repairs completed Paul went out for his practice laps on the Saturday morning at Teesside and experienced the same serious power steering issues, indicating a change of approach to the ongoing issue was required. Unfortunately this change could not be made at the trackside and so the G35 was reluctantly retired from the event. Luck was really not on Paul’s side as he went out to qualify in a borrowed car which also suffered issues on the runs that counted, ending his event.

Hankook Drivers Bring Home Two Podium Positions At Formula Drift Round 5: Throwdown
WAYNE, N.J., July, 25, 2011 – Hankook drivers Chris Forsberg and Fredric Aasbo took home two podium positions for Hankook Tire this past weekend at the fifth round of the Formula Drift season at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, Washington. Forsberg and Aasbo finished in second and third place respectively. Spectators and fans alike flooded the sold out event to see the best-of-the-best in Formula Drift battle for series points.
The race weekend, which is always an incredibly popular stop during the Formula Drift season, began with all five Hankook drift drivers qualifying into the top thirty two. The ending was equally as exciting with Hankook drivers, Forsberg, Aasbo and Rhys Millen, fighting their way to the front and holding three of the top four positions. Aasbo narrowly beat out Millen for the third place finish.
The finals matched 2009 Formula Drift champion Chris Forsberg, in the Hankook Nissan 370Z, up against Daijiro Yoshihara in his Nissan S13. After an extremely tight race, Forsberg brought home a second place podium finish. Hankook’s second and third place finishes at round five bring its total to three podium positions in the past two events. Hankook driver Conrad Grunewald won last month at Formula Drift round four in New Jersey.
