The London Motor Film Festival was the first of its kind, bringing together people with a passion for creating automotive films.
The Clapham Grand was the location for this great event, 350 people attended from over 15 countries with entries coming in from many more. The crowd was filled with videographers, journalists, drivers and enthusiasts, all here to watch the official selection of films on the big screen.
Once everyone was seated the evening began with a teaser of the selected films, even though we had seen this before it was quite moving to see it on the huge screen.
Bryn Musselwhite hosted the evening with three judges deciding the winner in each of the eight categories. The judges were Darryl Fernandez (The Mill, BBC), Jacques Steyn (Legendary director and DOP) and Magnus Walker (Star of ‘Urban Outlaw’). We were happy not to have to decide which films should win as there were so many great films shown through the evening.
The winning films in each of the categories were –
Best Drama Film – The Ugly Duckling by NORBEFILMS
Best Documentary Film – Easier Said Than Done by Matt Johnston
Best Commercial Film – F Type and the Bloodhound by FP Creative
Best Event Coverage – Spa24 by David Hale
Bentley GT3 SPA from David Hale Automotive Filmmaker on Vimeo.
Best Animation Film – Mobil1 & Porsche by Frame

Best Student Film – 96FTD by Charlie Neilon
Best Internet Viral – Tokyo Midnight LED Lambo Run Pt.1 by Steve’s POV
Once the seven main categories had been announced it was time to decide which film would be given the Grand Prix Award for overall best film. Jacques Steyn took to the stage to annouce this prestigous award, he explained that it was a very difficult choice and he had evaluated each film on their story telling, content, photography & music.
Jacques decided to award it to the film that best portrayed the passion and excitement in the automotive community, the award was given to Easier Said Than Done by Matt Johnston (http://easiersaidthandonefilm.com/)
The event was a brilliant way network with automotive enthusiasts and professionals, we hope to see it become a regular event. The evening would not have been possible without Al Clark, Vince Knight and their sponsors.
