King of Europe, the one and only true European Series always want to be the leader in the drift innovation, we have been the first to announce the concept of European drift series in 2004, we have been the first to start it in 2005, and again we are very proud to be the first to announce the switch to full electronic judgement for our 2011 drift series.
We are releasing a fully customized telemetry system for drifting, this system use tri-axis sensor, G sensor and GPS sensor, gathering informations 60 times per second with an accuracy of 10cm. This system also use live transmission over UMTS network, removing all data transmission issues that radio waves can have in racing environment.
All tracks (permanent or temporary) will be GPS-mapped, start line, finish line, start of judging area, clippoints. For qualifications, the system work on its own giving the points based on the line (average distance from the clippoints), speed (average speed on the track), angle (average angle during the lap). Judges giving the extra show points.
For battles, judging will rely on the same package of detailed informations, adding some extra features like the average gap between the 2 cars during the battle, as well as automatic understeering detection to take the final decision.
Our new rules #22 about slow drift penalty will be perfectly respected, average speed of the leader of the battle will have to be same of higher than in qualifications, telemetry can also see a quick speed drop due to left foot braking, removing any chance for cheaters to win on the tricks rather than winning on the skills.
In the end, telemetry will give a lot more accuracy to the drifting races than can give human eyes and experience.
After being successfully used more than 1 year in a national drift championship, we made some testing in King of Europe “environment” last weekend during our round 2 in Serres. Last tests before going “live” in King of Europe round 3 in Slovakia, will happen in the Romanian and Croatian championship rounds in June.
Special briefing will be made to the King of Europe drivers before and after qualifications to show and explain how the system works. We are very confident that this system will make a huge revolution in the drifting competition and remove any doubt some drivers might have on human judging.
“One more time we are very happy than King of Europe is keeping the lead of drifting innovation, like i always say, King of Europe is lot more than just drifting” said Mike Procureur, owner of King of Europe Series.
Full video report will be released after round 3 on Motors TV and on internet to explain the fans how our telemetry system works. Next generation drifting judging is starting now and we are sure all drivers will be immediatly addicted to it.
This system is of course, available for renting or for resale to other drifting series, any interested person is welcome to see it running live at King of Europe. Feel free to contact us for more detailed informations about this system.
