what got me into drifting was seeing it at the home track here in painesville ohio
I have never been to a drift event and I’d love to win these tickets to go! So hopefully I win these and ill be one happy person
what got me into drifting was the adrenaline rush. the power of toque spinning the wheels…skill of countersteering and throttle control…smell of tire smoke…its all intoxicating.
what lead me on the road of sideways goodness was the brotherhood of the scene. being part of nico, zilvia, and socaldrift has led me to meet some of the most awesomw people I know.
the drive, passion, blood, sweat and tears is what keeps my love for driftingconstant. theres no better feeling, except when I create dishes that people love which in finances my first live, DRIFTING.
what got me in to drifting was this past 2011 championship here at Irwindale it was my very first time so I decided to bring my 6yr old daughter along. We had an awesome time. Hopefully I can go to three of the seven rounds this year.
We bought a Scion and they had a contest that my husband won-tickets to the final last year. He surprised me and took me for my 50th birthday-best gift ever! I had only seen drifting on t.v and seeing it live totally got me hooked! It’s been awesome to find a new sport to watch together and follow, love the racing, love the cars, love the fans, drifting rocks!
I went to a drifting event in Irwindale in 2010 on a date with a pretty awesome guy who is now my boyfriend. We were drift virgins and absolutely loved it. When it came around in Irwindale again in 2011, we purchased VIP tickets which made the experience even better. Drifting and the beach sounds like the best of both worlds……and free would be great 🙂
I GOT IN TO IT CAUSE I LIKE BEING SIDEWAYS. I FIRST DID IT IN MY S-10 THEN GOT MY FIRT S-13. BEEN DOING IT FOR 6 YRS AND I HAVENT STOPED LOVING IT. I HAVE BEEN TO 7 IRWINDALE EVENTS AND HAVE NEVER BEEN TO A LONG BEACH ONE THATS Y IM HERE TO WIN SOME DAMN TICKETS SO I CAN FINALLY GO!!!!!
I got in to drifting. when I was 16 in Okinawa Japan and I saw some kids who were at Nago Circuit and I was inspired into how to slide the car. I wanted to know the technique, so then I started to learn more by riding along. Also when I came to Cali I was helping out with drift events like Federal Tire Driving Academy and Dai’s Driving Academy. And eversince the scene in the US my passion for drifting came about. But I have been drifting for 6 years now. It is a passion for me to drift. I have been to different drift event since 2003 and I’m here to win the tickets because this year I been reading about drivers and some drivers have new chassis with same model cars like matt powers. And I’m also hearing that there will be a big hype this year at long beach. so I am here trying to win.
I got into drifting about 4-5 years ago, i havent really decided why, or why i do it, or why im spending so much money every day, or why i work just to build a racecar, but there really isnt no real answer, just because its drifting, its amazing, and just driving a type of ridic sport like this is so awesome, Pro am should be fun this year, hopefully 2013 FD will be fun too, it’d be nice to go to long beach tho, ive been there before, but a free ticket to this years long beach would make it alot better, cause thats an extra few bucks to spend on stuff out in longbeach 😉
I never knew drifting was actually a sport at first. I remember going for drives with my older brother when I was a little kid and he would slide around corners and I thought it was one of the coolest things ever because I looked up to my brother quite a bit. I first really got into drifting in early high school when I stumbled across some JDM option videos on youtube. I was already into cars and my dad was into circle track racing so I just progressed into drifting. I first saw “real” on track drifting in person at the first drift demo at PGP in Washington and I was hook line and sinker by that time. That same year I went to FD Seattle with my Dad and we both had our minds blown. I’ve been head deep into drifting ever since. I can’t get enough of it.
I found drifting in irwindale wen the had there first d1gp and that is why I been keeping up on the irwindale status and hope they continue the house of drift there
Well I think it started with moving to benson az, But when I left California, I was after school going to my uncles Rotary Power shop idk four years ago. But in 04 and 05 Ross petty drove my uncles car but I never got to see it in action except in low quality video on his web cite so I think it would be cool to go back to cali and watch for the first time drift
Loving the rear wheel drive scene and the feel of being sideways hearing the tire screeching feeling the G force is amazing. The friends and the drift community scene is the friendliest everywhere I go and loving the great photos landed me here to this amazing page that I always shared with everyone I know.
I’m not going to bore you. I love sliding as much as I love Asian women. Plus I just moved to SoCal from Florida so pick me! 🙂 Please. I also sold my 370z for the move, pity me and my new 1999 Buick Regal. lol
I have recently got into drifting a while back ago. My friends took me to Turnbull Canyon in Whittier, CA where novice and elder street drifters go touge and hang out. We would go at night and watch the ae86’s, mr2’s, 240’s and occasionally some mx5’s come on down and drift some tough turns. The smell of burnt rubber never smelled so good. It was an adrenaline rush watching them drift or try to 😛 . Ever since that day I have keep saving money to get my own a RWD drift car. Since I have never been to a professional drifting competition It would be a pleasure to go to the 2012 Formula Drift Round 1 in LBC.
Drifting is just so unique actually keeping control of a car while in a state of anything but control is great. The smoke, the smell of burnt rubber and the skill involved. Enough said.
Once I first saw drifting I knew it was something different. It’s not just about speed but also the skill and style. Watching a car drift sideways while creating a nice smoke screen behind them is the best.
Cant wait to see Matt Powers tear it up this season with his Newly built S14 🙂 Cant wait for Long Beach.
Walking the fine line between control and chaos got me into drifting. Lookin to score some tickets so I can go see my east coast buddies, and rep Hampshaaaa!
What got me into drifting was when I was 15 I remember reading a article on drifting in import tuner magazine so I looked it up on YouTube and remember been shocked n saying “that is (bleeping) awesodo” I can’t believe u can do
What got me into drifting was when I was 15 I remember reading a article on drifting in import tuner magazine so I looked it up on YouTube and remember been shocked n saying “that is (bleeping) awesome i can’t believe u can do that with a car” ever since then i been hooked on drifting
I’m going to be completely honest: what got me into drifting was NOT watching movies, reading magazines, smelling burnt rubber, nor even witnessing it in real life… but rather playing Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero with my older brother on the PS2 back when I was 9 years old in 2001. I didn’t even know what “drifting” meant… until I started racing AND winning against my brother, who then dubbed me: “Drift Queen”.
I don’t know about cars.. but I love FD3S! I have a wall full of RX-7 photos in my bedroom. Initial D is my most favorite animation! I watch it even till today! I didn’t know about Formula D until 2010! I went to see my 1st REAL drifting at Irwindale! All the smokes, squeaking sound and smell of burning rubbers makes my blood boil! I love it! I am addicted to it! In June 2011, my co-workers took me to Adams for a drift ride along for my birthday! That was the most amazing night in my life. My dream is for me to have a drift ride along with Dai someday, he is my idol, He rocks and he is really someone to look up to! LADY TO LUCK!
That feeling of weightless-ness when your rear end kicks out .
Team Orange FTW!!!
What got me into drifting was working behind RMR in HB for three years seeing all the cool cars coming in and out and finally went to my first drift event at irwindale and fell in love with it. Even tho i drive a fwd car drifting is awesome and i go watch it anytime i can weather it be long beach irwindale rip house of drift or vegas! cant wait for FORMULA D 2012 season to start!
Driving my dads 1990 Ford bronco 2 in the rain I found out that my natural reaction to spinning out when turning was to counter steer! 6 years later and I still can’t believe I saved it that night. I got home, googled it, found out it was called drifting, start watching formula d and damn I was hooked!
What got me into drifting basically was the import scene I just love foreign cars and the potential there is in inline motors drifting caught my attention way back as a child I’ve seen vehicles power slide but drifting is a whole new level of skills you have toaster but car and driver ,! Just seeing a car drift in corners at high speeds is breath taking and once the pop that clutch and make those engines roar it’s just so exhilarating
Well good luck to all of us If we don’t win these tickets I know I’m still purchasing mine.!:)
Go Matt Powers
And Dai Yoshihara
240 Love<3
Watching japanese videos from Hot Version and looking at the rwd drifts
First, I watched it, then I did it, it was love at first slide
What got me into drifting is initial d and the smell of burning rubber coming from the cars taking those corners at the great angles and the way the drivers can push their cars to the limit is awesome.
What got me into drifting was a bunch of Friends in Peru when I was living there long time ago. We all started drifting our Silvias, 240’s and Skylines in a dirt park that we found past the airport in Peru. And we started really small with about 20 cars drifting just for fun the cops wouldn’t bother us and if a car got wrecked we had a friend that had a tow truck for it. Then unfortunately I got a job opportunity that I couldn’t pass in California and I moved and now it’s been 3 years now and in Peru we have our own drift championship which is really fun and marketed really well. http://www.tododrift.com/ What started as a Sunday hobby grew quickly to tournaments and championships there. Now here usually Adams Motorsports is the place to go for drifting. A lot into the car scene it got me into going to last year’s finals of Formula Drift in Irwindale and I must say it was super fun . I’m planning on going whether I win or not. But the ticket would definitely help me . Positive that Dai Yoshihara will win this championship! The drivers in Formula Drift are super friendly worthy of admiring.
I got into the drift scene when first witnessing at adams motorsports park in riverside ca. Im currently involved with team pow racing and will be traveling with the team to vegas drift top and xdc events. This event falls on my birthday this year and would be a great way to kick off the formula D season
What got me interested into drifting was power of the car
The burning of tires, the team work that takes to get the championship and the great run of Dai Yoshihara, the thrill the GForces that drifting gives you and its a safe way to have fun.
What got me into drifting is the crazy rush that you get while sliding around corners. I love the look, the performance. I was always into cars since I was little, but when I was in the 6th grade my brother who is now 26 showed me drifting. Me and my brother would stay up nights and days working on his beat to shit Cressida just to get it running and drivable again, just to go and run it into some more walls. I like the feeling of being out of control of the car but also in control. So what really got me into drifting was hearing about it and looking it up, hearing and reading and watching Japan’s drift king (Keiichi Tsuchiya) drift. It was just amazing to me, and now at 17 years old I have my own car and drift as much as I can.
What got me into drifting was a number of things that happened around the same time. I moved to a new neighborhood and met my neighbor. He owned a 95 240sx that he used to slide around. He told me to come out to the events and he would show me the ropes. So I went out and saw drifting first hand. I was amazed at how the drivers were so out of control, but perfectly in control. They were all really cool and supportive. So, I naturally got pulled into it. The next concrete push into drifting was ny first ride along. My friend Jose let me ride in his swapped SC300. My heart was going crazy before the first turn. After the initiation, it was pure euphoria. Nothing can really describe the feeling, other than it feels so right. I have been watching Formula Drift for years now, and frankly I’ve never been to an event. This is my opportunity to cross this off my bucket list. I will be attending Long Beach either way but you guys can make one of my biggest dreams happen so much easier. And I’m not just going for me, I’m going for my mom as well as she is unable to attend due to her disability. So this isn’t just for me. Thank you for this opportunity to receive this.
When I got my license I was looking to buy a cheap car. I did some research and came across the s13 (and eventually the s-chasis family). At the same time I was learning how to play Initial D (3rd stage). Anyways, while looking up cars, I came across drift events and one them was Formual D. This was a few years ago, been a loyal fan since!
What got me into drifting was when my dad took me to see cars racing one another when i was 4. I always wanted to be a race car driver but my parents obviously said NO because 1. im a girl 2. its dangerous 3. im asian 4 etc lol! in 7th grade i developed a passion for art, and since not being able to be a race car driver i decided i wanted to become a car designer. I’ve always been interested in Formula 1 racing and always been watching it since i was little. I believe that i am the right person to be chosen for this contest because there are mostly guys entering this contest and i believe girls should have the right to win a contest about cars ^_^ also if i can go to this event it will give me more inspiration when studying car designing 🙂 because i am a senior in high school right now and i will be pursuing my love for car designing at Academy of art in SF this september… that means i wont be in LA anymore 🙁 so i hope to spend as much time and get as many great memories in Los Angeles before i move up to nor-cal. You never know i might be designing a drifting car in 10 years xD
<3 Alice Liew ^_^
Its was my friends that got me into drifting. They were the ones who were inviting me to long beach and check out the drift events
Now I go every year.
One day I was at the mall and some guy game me a flyer to the formula d I saw it and told my friends about it at this time I didn’t know anything about drifting so we all got together and went to the irwindale round 7 and from that day foward I started loving what is called drifting (:
I got into drifting because I got bored of surfing and snowboarding. It also looked cool as hell and super fun.
My ex boyfriend got me into now I’m all in love with it:)
I started loving drifting when i went on a vacation to tokyo. I seen it like it an tried it n beleive me i loved the adrenile rush on sliding sideways.

“I drift not because it is a quicker way around a corner but the most exciting way.”
-Keiichi Tsuchiya
watching my big brother participate in New Mexico drift events and taking me to see a formula D event when I was younger, where I got to meet Ken Gushi and Vaughn Gittin. I even sculpted Gushi’s head in art class later that year ahaha! http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b313/autumnslaststand/GUSHIBUSTcopy.jpg
I got into drifting after I watched some old Drift Tengoku DVDs at my neighbors house back in 2008. Late this year will be my first event and I can’t be any more excited.
I pretty much grew up surrounded by cars and drifting. My first time at a D1GP was at the California Speedway in 2004 and haven’t been able to attend one since. I was only 13 at the time and now have my own AE86. Before I bought my car, I watched and helped my cousins build their cars. Now there are 4 of us with AE86’s.
wow drifting i have always been into racing drag and road but seeing drifting i have never personally got to see the event in live but i would love to drifting the fact that the game is to lose control but still have control of the car is so amazing the adrenalin rush you get from doing is just like going to the moon and back jaja but yea i got into drifting cuz of a friend of mine drifting in his FC some of the best memories i have
