Formula Drift returned to New Jersey for the 11th year. Mad Mike competed with a limited schedule in 2015, missing the New Jersey round. His only previous visit to Wall Speedway was in 2010 when he competed in the 20BT BADBUL (RX8).
Thursday practice was successful with the team dialing in the suspension on RADBUL for the new course layout. Leaving the course with confidence, Mad Mike looked forward to qualifying the next day.
However, Friday would prove to be no simple task. The team noticed a mechanical engine issue in the morning when they took RADBUL out for a test lap during practice. After deciding not to chance it in RADBUL, Chris Forsberg offered Mad Mike the opportunity to compete in his newly built, FD spec street car. While the team was making last minute changes to the car minutes before qualifying, FD staff notified them of a technical rule that would not allow Mad Mike to qualify in another car.
Unfortunately, this meant the end of the weekend for Mad Mike. This did not stop him from greeting the fans and watching his fellow drifters compete.
