Long Beach, Calif. – October 8, 2016 – The O’Reilly Auto Parts “Title Fight” sponsored by Gumout at the Formula DRIFT Championship presented by BlackVue Dash Cameras completed the 2016 Pro Championship season in dramatic fashion with Matt Field in the Gears of War 4 / Falken / Driftcave Motorsports Nissan 240 taking the event victory, while Chris Forsberg, in the NOS Energy Drink / Hankook Nissan 370Z is crowned both the Pro Champion and World Champion.

Irwindale Speedway, also known as the “House of Drift,” hosted the sold out event. Over 600,000 global viewers tuned in to watch the event unfold via the Livestream.

“This was a signature year for the Series,” said Jim Liaw, President of Formula DRIFT. “We crowned our first 3-time champion, introduced an eighth event to the Pro Championship, and have a few things up our sleeves already for the 2017 season.” Continue reading →

Formula DRIFT Pro Driver Matt Field to Unveil New Gears of War 4 Livery at Round 8: Title Fight This Weekend

Matt Field will unveil a new Gears of War 4 livery in action in his Nissan 240SX this weekend during the Formula DRIFT finale at Irwindale Speedway. Gears of War 4 signage will adorn the track and a commercial will play on the Jumbotron during the live event.

Fans can get an early look at the new livery, which Matt Field will reveal on the Formula DRIFT Instagram (@formulad) during his Instagram takeover from now until October 6.

Xbox will also offer a bonus contingency prize of an Xbox One S console and $2500 to the highest-placing Formula DRIFT driver with a Gears of War 4 decal on their vehicle. Continue reading →

FORT WORTH, TX – September 10, 2016 – Team Falken driver Matt Field took the top spot on the podium at Texas Motor Speedway in the latest round of the 2016 Formula Drift Championship. Field’s first-ever first-place finish notches back-to-back event wins for Falken, following Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis’ win at Evergeen Speedway in August. This is also Falken’s third consecutive visit to the podium this season.

“We couldn’t be happier for Matt and our Falken team,” said Steve Wong, Supervisor, Motorsports and Events for Falken. “We knew we had the drivers and the tires to get to the top this season. With Matt’s win, and our third straight trip to the podium, we were proven right. The new course configuration made the track fast and challenging for these drivers, but our AZENIS line delivered. We’re confident we’ll see more of these top finishes for our drivers.”
