Hot, hot and hot is the only the words to describe the Arizona Qualifier hosted at SIR. 29 drivers showed up (12 from California) for the opportunity of becoming the select few to be invited to the Pro Am Nationals later this year.
The event began with a blank paved parking lot at a Drag strip. Taka Aono and Hiro Sumida transformed the lot into a high speed and well designed course to test the limits of the drivers. The surface was not perfect and there was a bump that had some of the cars flying sideways at 60 mph, but the drivers did their best to keep the cars on the course into the night. Nine drivers impressed the judges enough to go on to the finals with Ben Kunk in his Toyota Cressida earning the top spot.
