Tokyo, Japan, 27th of July, 2014 – 2014 has seen King of Europe entering it’s 10th season of drifting throughout the
European Continent. Along these 10 years, King of Europe has established itself as the
biggest, most popular, and most professional drift series on the old continent. With a
remarkable reach of more than 85 million people by means of TV, more than 1 million fans
in Social Media, more than 120.000 fans attending the 21 events throughout the year, and
a constant flow of pre-event and post-event media, including viral videos and large scale
photo galleries, King of Europe has grown immensely from just an idea, to a professional,
world-renown drift series.
King of Europe has become the meeting point for the best drifters in Europe, and even outside Europe, with drivers coming in from as far as the Middle East, Japan, Hong Kong and even Australia. Champions of many nations across the continent travel around Europe to attend the King of Europe events, with the ultimate goal of claiming the European Title in mind. With the creation of the new divisions, King of Europe Street Legal, Queen of Europe and King of Touge, King of Europe continues to expand to more and more countries, attract even more professional drifters and ultimately create the most exciting drift experience for both drivers and fans alike.
Keiichi Tsuchiya is without a doubt, a name that every true drifting fan knows very
well. Often referred to as the Godfather of Drifting, Drift King or DK, Keiichi Tsuchiya has
basically invented the sport of drifting, almost 30 years ago, on the Touges of Japan. As a
professional driver, drifter, judge and promoter of drift events along with his long time
partner Daijiro Inada, head of Option Magazine and Videos, they are by all means Iconic
Figures in the world of drifting.
After a long series of successful events promoted throughout Europe by King of
Europe and in Asia by Keiichi Tsuchiya and Daijiro Inada, it comes as a natural progression
that in 2015, a World Exhibition Match will be created in joint venture by the
aforementioned entities, aiming to have an event with the best drifters in the world,
envisioning the first step to a World Drift Series, as so many people have been asking for
years and years.
This first event will be held in Japan, in March 2015, and it will bring
together the elite drivers of Europe, Asia, Middle East, Australia, North America and South
America, to an extent never seen before anywhere in the world.
With King of Europe still being halfway through the 2014 season, Keiichi Tsuchiya
has announced his attendance to one of the remaining King of Europe events in the
calendar, where he will hold press conference, be an official judge and also participate in
identifying the drivers with huge potential for participating in the World Exhibition Match.
King of Asia “World Exhibition Match” details will be announced during press conference
later this year.
