Friday’s Qualifying day was sure a hot one. Matt Field’s tires looked like we all felt shooting out inside the track. But the fire never fazed him and he kept on with his run’s giving us one Awesome show.
Our buddy Dean was able to put down A solid Qualifying Score after crashing during the Morning Practice session. The team and him were able to get the car back together and make it into the Top 32 round of competition. Dean as sure showed a lot of improvement this year and is now one with the Viper. Were sure we will see much more excitement from him next year.
Forrest Wang was sure to be a force to recon with on this weekend. Over the season he has made it well know that he is there to take the fight to the big boys. All of his practice run’s were on par and it was no surprise he tool the #1 Qualifying spot for the event. For the rest of the pic from Friday’s Qualifying and Practice click HERE.
Daigo Saito Is always a sure bet to do good at Irwindale. This yea’s new car has given him much problems but it seems the team has figured them out and Daigo looks to be starting to feel at home in the new ride. This can only mean that next year he will be back to strike even harder.
Continuing with his weekend theme. Matt Field’s again gave us a fire show to ooh and ah over, as Odi and him kept running some amazing tandem run’s
Another stand out for me over the weekend was Charles Ng. He was in a borrowed car from Forrest Wang. This is another Drivers who’s shown a mass improvement in his skill over the 2015 season. And also it goes to show that Forrest and his Get Nuts crew can build some awesome Drift machines.
With the Championship being determined early on in the Top 32 It was still a exciting moment checking out the brackets and seeing that we could possibly see a final with the top 2 guy’s in the championship facing of for the win. And we ended up getting that battle. One last fight for the year, Top 2 drivers in FD. What a way to end a season.
Aasbo would end up edging out Gushi for the win with Forrest taking 3rd. place based on his #1 Qualifying position. The podium would be a 1-2 for Scion Racing and a Podium sweep for Hankook Tires. For the rest of Images from the Main Day’s Competitions click the link HERE.
In the End Aasbo was crowned the 2015 Formula D Champion as well as the Inaugural Formula D World champions since this was changed to the final round of the championship due to the cancellation of the Finals in China. Since day one of his Rookie season Aasbo has shown great talent and drive to be one of the Top FD Drivers. He was on of those Drivers you didnt wonder how he would win a championship, but instead when he would. A huge congratulation the the entire Papadakis Racing Team a Fredric. You Deserve it. And Great Job to the Entire Formula D Crew. Another great year and we will see ya in Long Beach…….
