Drift Association Updates
April 27, 2009
Drift Association is back in the swing of things. April turned out to be quite a busy month for us. On April 4th, we represented at the UTI Formula Drift tech day. Later that evening, we hosted a drift demo at National Orange Show. In addition, over at Willow Springs International Raceway, what started out as a girl’s drift event, ended up being a successful open event. Recognition goes out to Wendy Kong and Sherry Kamiya for supporting the girl’s portion of the event and making the long trip down from Nor. Cal. to drive.
On April 11th, rocking revamped old skool Drift Association logos, Taka Aono brought it at Formula Drift Round 1, Streets of Long Beach by placing 5th in the Top 8. Congratulations Taka! Here’s to a great start for the 2009 season.
We are back at the big orange! Rounding up the busy Formula Drift weekend, we were able to come back out to El Toro. After about a year’s hiatus from the venue, about 30 drivers made it out for a small private event. Please keep in mind, for future events we will be strictly enforcing rules and regulations. A couple reminders:
* 1 to 2 pit crew/spectator limit per driver. Wrist bands will be given to both the driver and pit crew/spectators. Drivers will need to contact us prior to the event to give us the name(s) of who they will be bringing. Spectators who are not on the approved list will be turned away.
* SA95+ helmets are required at our events.
* Be on time. Tech and driver’s meeting are mandatory!
On April 25th, Drift Association assisted with Inland Drift for their grand opening event. Spectators and drivers were welcome to come out for the event. You could have even won a chance to drive a Drift 101 car! Special thank you to Nitro 2 Go for sponsoring this event.
