Well after 7 round of intense competition we finally reach the conclusion of the 2013 Formula D Season. Formula D will end its 10 year celebration and the world famous house of drift, Irwindale Speedway. The 2013 season sure has been one of up and downs for quite a few of the top drivers and have seen some new faces rise to the top and show they are a force to be reckon with. Round 6 was the inaugural event held at the Texas Motor Speedway. This track was sure to be that challenged all drivers and make for on interesting show and boy did it ever.
The excitement started off with Daigo Saito going off track in his first qualifying run resulting in him having to going into the LCQ round of qualifying. He was able to pull off a 80.5 point run and placing him 22nd for top 32 bracket. Saito would go on the Face Matt Powers in Top 32 and would end up getting eliminated by Powers, this would be the second time Saito has failed to make Top 16 and placing him in 5th place in the points -80 behind first place. The finals would see Michael Essa battle it out Matt Fields, Essa would go on to beat Fields and take his second formula D win of the year and Fields would make his first appearance on the FD podium in second followed by Chris Forsberg in third. Essa would move into the #1 in points 15.50 points ahead of #2 Chris Forsberg. Now the battle for the Championship moves to the house of drift for the final stop. Will we see another first time winner and new faces on the podium of will the familiar faces make their presence shown. All that is know is that it will be one great event as always and a fitting end to Formula D 10 year celebration. We would like you to enjoy in the fun of the Finals so let get to the important stuff.

Best moment was the Atlanta event when Gittin climbed on Aasbo and then proceeded to drift away.
The best moment it’s the off-track when camera man asked Gushi to marry him and also when the drivers get asked about the judges dating part with the drivers
The best moment of this season had to be either Aasbo’s and Saito’s battle at Long Beach, Gittin and Grunewald’s battles at Texas, or Danny George’s appearance in Top 16 at FDNJ, where we were all introduced to Dan’s short shorts. Last year’s Irwindale was perhaps the best, only because I haven’t seen much footage from previous years 😛
Watching Michael Essa getting his first win in Palm Beach and another in Texas indicates there is definitely an increased level of competition in Formula D. Which is what everyone wants to see. Especially from a manufacturers stance. My favorite event at the House of Drift was taking my daughter to a drifting event in 2007 when she was just 2, and she had a blast meeting the drivers and was able to get up close to the cars. She has been hooked since, and looks forward to Long Beach and Irwindale every year. The car and driver accessibility is great for anyone interested in motorsport. I commend Formula D for all the great work they have done for so many years.
Best throughout the season was to see our hometown kid Matt powers rise and face and challenge the competition and get top 3. He has really come alive this year.
Best times at irwindale is to see cars entering at 80+mph and than slide
Wow…this season has been more hype than anything this year.honestly every round starting the streets of long beach seems like one big fiasco..i was only able to first hand experience long beach this year…walking the pits and seeing the drivers on edge amd scrambling to put back together the cars .coolant on the ground. differentials being swapted out .seeing whole front ends getting tore down to find out what failed…seeing vaugh jr getting interviewed .seeing the staff transports the gopro pods…its been amaxzing.year after year the hype doesn’t go away….one main thing was seeing fredric nd daigo go at it ,round after round to move forward on the rounds was intense ..
Also the hole croud getting mad at staff when kicking off spectators from restricted stands by the last horse shoe…….also seeing thw youtube playbacks of jr going off road on assbos car…wow…I can’t amaging the hype being there……..forsberg loosing his door…….also in jersey seeing jr spin out!what!….over all .I kno what it is to fix cars so seeing those get tore apart let alone the drivers risk..I’m hopping that this month at irwindale we all can see the lit being pushed the cars to be driven till the wheels fall off(figure of speach) and hope no one gets hurt ..safety is a must ..I seen ryans car catch fire right afyer a run….who knows wjat we have in store seeing them fight for the tittle…..fd!
