Conrad Gruenwald’s Tanaka Racing Corvette has a new supercharger putting out 10 lbs of boost instead of 2.5, giving him 20% more Torque. He placed 4th last year, and expects a high finish this year.

Chris Kregorian was at the track, but had a family emergency and towed his car back to LA to tend to his family. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kregorian Family.

Tommy Suell’s Corolla got a complete refresh since Seattle (new paint, cage, wiring, engine management, intercooler piping, etc), but the car wasn’t finished in time for qualifying. He’ll have to qualify top 16 at Irwindale to keep his licsense for next year.

Tyler McQuarrie’s Porsche has had a long string of bad luck. Broken tranny in Long Beach, ECU bugs in Vegas, and a valve spring retainer in Seattle. For this event, Tyler’s shift knob came off the shifter when he was downshifting near the apex for the first clipping point, which threw his line off enough to cost him the point he missed out on top 16.

Darren McNamara’s Sky melted a plugwire and was down on power, but the car was repaired and back out before top 16 practice was over.

Takatori’s Skyline was converted back to double A-arm from the Mac-strut conversion they had been running since the beginning of the year. The conversion caused Takatori to be fined and docked all qualifying points he had earned this year. Takatori still looked great in practice, we’ll see how he performs tomorrow!

We caught up with Ross Petty in the pits, he plans to be in his S13 coupe again next year. Ross was known for being a car whore, driving 5 different cars in the 5 years of Formula D. He’s finally found a car he likes!
