Drift Indy is Back at XDC Round 3
Indianapolis, Indiana – June 16 th, 2010 – Some were wondering where Drift Indy was and whether or not it was dead. Well, it isn’t dead. They have been working very hard on other avenues with the drifting motorsport locally, as well as helping get more involvement with the drift community.
With the third round of the Xtreme Drift Circuit coming up this weekend at Summit Point, West Virginia, Drift Indy is very proud to announce the formation of their official Pro-Am Drift Team. Bill Cook and Mike Feiock, both out of Indianapolis, have officially decided to take on this trip together to compete against the drivers of the Xtreme Drift Circuit with the help of sponsors and friends.
“I am very excited to drive with different drivers, on a different track, away from the Midwest,” says Feiock. “I think that both Bill and I can go out and have some serious fun, doing what we do best”.
In recent months both Cook and Feiock have attended a number of events locally ran by the Midwest Drift Union where both have been tested on going fast and technical. “Formula D licensed driver Derek King has been a great inspiration and push for us to go out and drive with different competition after he came home from Irwindale last season” said Feiock.
Cook is very excited where drifting has gone locally and wants to simply go out and have fun again out east. This could be a real test after Cooks Pro-Am appearance in 2008 at Virginia International Raceway where he was having consistent issues with his car. “I know this could be a real test for both Mike and I driving 12 hours away from home and planning a successful event with the rest of the “team”, or my friends as I like to call them.”
“There is no better person than Mike to be there pushing me to drive better along with our other Drift Indy brothers in the pits”. We expect to definitely have fun, drive with amazing talent and see what kind of experience and tips we can gain from the judges Matt Petty, Mike Schneider, and Formula D champion Chris Forsberg.
XDC Set to Highlight Hyperfest This Weekend at Summit Point Raceway Park
June 17, 2010 (Summit Point, W.V.) – The exciting weekend that is Hyperfest is about to get a little more exciting, as the Xtreme Drift Circuit is primed to headline the annual West Virginia motorsports festival this weekend.
XDC Hyperfest marks the third event of the 2010 Xtreme Drift Circuit championship. Westminster, California’s Quoc Ly heads the championship standings ahead of Flagstaff, Arizona’s George Marstonavic. Round 1 winner David Briggs from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, ‘Magic’ Mike Pollard from Plymouth, Minnesota, and Forrest Wang from Las Vegas, Nevada also head the list of drivers that will be competing for a spot in Saturday night’s top-16 tandem competition.
One of the most anticipated XDC driver debuts will be Steve Angerman, driving a V8-powered Pontiac Solstice that was built and maintained by Gardella Racing. Also making his first XDC appearance is Doug van den Brink, driving a turbocharged Ford Mustang that he has driven in numerous Formula Drift events over the past two seasons. The two drivers will join the growing number of teams that will be at Summit Point.
“We are really excited about our partnership with Hyperfest for round three of the XDC,” said Mike Munar, president of XDC Events. “The fans are going to get another show with the possibility that, like Vegas, we will have over forty drivers – including guys like Angerman and van den Brink who are making their first starts in XDC, going up against the likes of Quoc Ly, George Marstonavic, and David Briggs.”
While the drivers of XDC hail from across the country and Canada, none of the drivers at XDC Hyperfest hail from West Virginia – although there are several from nearby Virginia.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bakchis surprises with win at XDC Round Two at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
May 24, 2010 (Las Vegas, Nev.) – On a hot, windy day at the Proving Grounds of Las Vegas Motor Speedway, XDC debutante Odie Bakchis outdrove a stellar field of thirty drivers to win the first ever drift event held on the LVMS road course. Bakchis, who competes in the regional Vegas Drift series and is a regular at Southern California’s Thursday Night Drift, defeated Forrest Wang, Alex Pfeiffer, upstart Ryan Kado and Quoc Ly on his way to a surprising victory at the Proving Grounds and the $3000 check that went along with it.
Westminister, California’s Quoc Ly would finish second and earn $2000, with Flagstaff, Arizona’s George Marstonavic finishing third to earn $1000, and eighteen-year-old Kado from Sacramento, California earning $500 for fourth. Ly also earned an extra $150 for winning the Retaks Insane Entry Award, while the top-three earned prizes from Del Taco for their results.
It was a drama-filled day in Las Vegas, beginning in qualifying when round 1 winner David Briggs failed to advance to tandem competition. In the top-16, James Evans eliminated Formula Drift driver Jeff Jones after a One More Time, before Kado and Wang squared off. Wang put in one of the best chase runs of the day, only to blow an engine and forfeit the round to the upstart Kado. Kado then eliminated Formula Drift driver Pfeiffer to advance to the Final Four.
