Adams Motorsports Park drift night 11-17-11

Posted on December 2, 2011 by Staff

Hello drift fans! Well it appears that the time change is upon us! I arrived at the track in total darkness. I immediately knew that I was going to miss taking pictures during the day. Part of the challenge of a photographer is finding ways to deal with whatever situation you are faced with! The time change seems to have affected the drifters as well. For most of the first session there were only 3 cars running. But those cars put on a heck of a show! Andy was shredding the track all night! He blew through the first set of tires almost instantly, he made several runs with showers of sparks pouring from his tires.

The Godspeed car was also on a roll and was dawning a new Mr. Clean Promotions decal.

As the night rolled on, more familiar faces started to show up. The WRX wagon took to the track and put down some wild laps until a rough crash.

A very sleep deprived Troy Adams even showed up before leaving for Vegas. He wasn’t too tired to play some games, and hand out prizes to the crowd. There was a hilarious game of Simon Says, and a new game where the crowd tried to guess a random person’s name! All and all it was a good time at Adams Motorsports Park. the rest of my pictures can be found at

(10/13/11) Adams Motorsports: Drift Night

Posted on October 19, 2011 by Staff

Author/Photographer: Dustin Thompson

It is time for another fun-filled Thursday night drift at Adams Motorsports Park! I couldn’t wait to get out to the track and try out my new 70-200mm f/2.8 lens! It appears that mother nature has started drinking! Two weeks ago it was hot, last week it was FREEZING, and this week it was hot once again. But the warm weather meant one thing: the lovely ladies would be out in force!

I saw several people in costumes and some were getting into the Halloween spirit early!

Spike rolled up to the track with his famous red monster. It was a bittersweet thing as he was training its new owner.

Later in the evening, Spike took a few great laps in it. In fact, all the drivers were pushing the limits that night. I saw the drivers really bringing it with faster entry speeds and getting way more sideways than usual! The white BMW showed up all decked out with all sorts of lights! It looked like a mixture of drifting and the Disney electrical parade!

At one point in the evening, there was a moment of silence to mark the one-year anniversary of the passing of drifter, Timothy Denzler. I have never heard the track that quiet. You could probably literally hear a pin drop. I never had the privilege of meeting Timothy, but you could tell how much he was loved and respected.

I had heard some rumors on facebook, and sure enough, Jack Reynolds showed up for the night session! It was his first time at Adams, and he was doing great out there!

Look for him and his wicked car on the upcoming drifting show “Whipped”, which will be on the speed channel next summer. Another car also showed up that I had never seen before. It was a RWD Subaru WRX Wagon with a “Mystery driver”!

There were all sorts of speculations on who it could be. It turned out to be, non other than 2011 Formula Drift Rookie of the year, Odi Bakchis! He looked like he was having lots of fun out there in his new ride. At one point in the evening, the crowd was treated to a live performance by The Odd Ones. There was also a brave volunteer from the audience that went up for a very special Adams birthday celebration. He got off pretty easily with quite a few pretty light hits. He even got to deal out a couple revenge swats for some off limit strikes. The night wrapped up with a very entertaining rap battle! Once again, proving that you can’t find better entertainment on a Thursday night than Adams! And what can you get for 3 bucks any more? You can get in to a great show at Adams Motorsports Park! Get ready for more great upcoming events. We have Sideway Sundays next weekend on Oct 23rd and Adams Halloween Drift Night on Oct 27th!

SHOWREEL MMXI | THE WARNING

Posted on October 16, 2011 by Staff

Stephen Brooks dropped his “Showreel” this weekend, which touches on some of his works in and around the drifting circuits, & car shoots that he’s been attending. Stephen is a modern day visionary when it comes to filming drift, he has a knack for tapping into certain filming styles that we dont ordinarily see. We were lucky to have him at the Wall NJ event this summer with Gardella Racing, where he filmed what we would consider one of the most spectacular edits of 2011, “Drifting The Guantlet”

Adams Motorsports Park Drift Series – Round 4

Posted on October 12, 2011 by Staff

It was a bitter cold night at Adams Motorsports Park! I picked the wrong night to forget my jacket at work! Luckily Tim from Mr. Clean Promotions, lent me an extra he had in his truck. Thank you Tim!!! Now that I could feel my fingers again, I was ready for the final round of THE ADAMS DRIFT SERIES!!! All of the drivers looked extremely solid during practice, so I could tell that we were in for a fantastic show! With there being very small gaps in the points, I was sure that it would be a fight till the end! The pits were buzzing with excitement and anticipation. There were more cars out for the practice session than I had seen in a long time. There was a line full of excited people waiting to experience a ride along. My friend Shalise had come out to the track for the first time, and just had to try it! She went for a ride with non other than DJ Pow (Pow Pow). Faster than you could say Metro PCS, she was loaded into the car and off they went!

I could almost see the smile through her helmet as they pulled back into the pits after their run. There were some tense moments throughout the practice sessions, with some of the top drivers in the series having technical difficulties with their cars. I saw Spike, Pow and several other drivers working on their cars at the last minute. Points’ leader, Ryan Litteral, had to borrow a car to finish the series. Luckily it was another AE86 so it wasn’t too much of a change for him.

After a very impressive practice session the competition began! The drifting was fierce, although I must say the last round had a lot more close calls. All the drivers were on top of their games, with only a couple small mistakes being committed.

The judges really had their work cut out for them. They had to look for the smallest dirt drop or mistake to help choose the winner of each round. In the end it was Ryan Litteral taking the win both at the event and overall points standings,

Alex Villabrille in second and Rob “Spike” Chen rounding out the top three. Spike took the win in the rookie division and took home two sets of new tires.

It was a great end to a very fun and exciting series! Stay tuned… Adams has lots of events in the works! Sideways Sunday is Oct. 23rd! It’s an event you don’t want to miss!
