It is time for another fun-filled Thursday night drift at Adams Motorsports Park! I couldn’t wait to get out to the track and try out my new 70-200mm f/2.8 lens! It appears that mother nature has started drinking! Two weeks ago it was hot, last week it was FREEZING, and this week it was hot once again. But the warm weather meant one thing: the lovely ladies would be out in force!
I saw several people in costumes and some were getting into the Halloween spirit early!
Spike rolled up to the track with his famous red monster. It was a bittersweet thing as he was training its new owner.
Later in the evening, Spike took a few great laps in it. In fact, all the drivers were pushing the limits that night. I saw the drivers really bringing it with faster entry speeds and getting way more sideways than usual! The white BMW showed up all decked out with all sorts of lights! It looked like a mixture of drifting and the Disney electrical parade!
At one point in the evening, there was a moment of silence to mark the one-year anniversary of the passing of drifter, Timothy Denzler. I have never heard the track that quiet. You could probably literally hear a pin drop. I never had the privilege of meeting Timothy, but you could tell how much he was loved and respected.
I had heard some rumors on facebook, and sure enough, Jack Reynolds showed up for the night session! It was his first time at Adams, and he was doing great out there!
Look for him and his wicked car on the upcoming drifting show “Whipped”, which will be on the speed channel next summer. Another car also showed up that I had never seen before. It was a RWD Subaru WRX Wagon with a “Mystery driver”!
There were all sorts of speculations on who it could be. It turned out to be, non other than 2011 Formula Drift Rookie of the year, Odi Bakchis! He looked like he was having lots of fun out there in his new ride. At one point in the evening, the crowd was treated to a live performance by The Odd Ones. There was also a brave volunteer from the audience that went up for a very special Adams birthday celebration. He got off pretty easily with quite a few pretty light hits. He even got to deal out a couple revenge swats for some off limit strikes. The night wrapped up with a very entertaining rap battle! Once again, proving that you can’t find better entertainment on a Thursday night than Adams! And what can you get for 3 bucks any more? You can get in to a great show at Adams Motorsports Park! Get ready for more great upcoming events. We have Sideway Sundays next weekend on Oct 23rd and Adams Halloween Drift Night on Oct 27th!
