After finding out the team are eligible to compete in the King of Europe event on our doorstep in the UK, the mad rush was on to prep the car for the unscheduled event.
Change the diff, change the oil, check the car over and we were off!
Arriving with plenty of time to get set up, we all felt oddly at home next to 1000+hp cars.
We had more practice time than we had tyres, so we had to regulate the usage to make sure I had tyres should I qualify.
Well I did!! I qualified 20th out of 47 of Europe’s best! I then found out my first battle on the following day was going to be against Francesco Conti….last year’s championship winner.
On my chase run I was trying to play ‘catch up’ a bit hard and just dropped into the gravel, losing pace and not being able to make it back up.
On my lead run, I went for it completely, I actually pulled away from a car with double my power!
And although I won that run sadly it wasn’t enough.
I’d like to thank all my sponsors for helping me get this far and continuing to support me, and the King of Europe team for making us feel all welcome.
I’d definitely do more events. Now to concentrate on round 3 of the British Drift Championship this weekend for Teesside.
