The Skies are Clear in Seattle!

Posted on August 9, 2008 by jacob

We’re back at the track, and despite the storm that rolled through this morning, the track is bone dry and ready for some sick drifting!! The NOS Energy Drink / Maxxis crew got the car back together, and he’s back and running. Several drivers took a few full-throttle laps, and took it easy to conserve the cars and tires. Of course the top drivers are all looking good, Hubinette, Takatori, Foust, and Tuerk all look great!! Some of the drivers have been practicing the “haraguchi-style” sideways entry when exiting the bank, it brings a lot of smoke and looks, in the words of J-rod, “gangsta”

Darren McNamara got his visa situation taken care of, and is back behind the wheel of the Sears Auto Center Sky.

We’re just underway with qualifying…

Chris Kregorian is first up, his car is all duct-taped together. His first run looks like a casual Sunday drive, there’s definitely some issues with the car. He does a big burnout and donuts near the big screen and the finish line to try and get a good score, but the run is a 0.

Seigo Yamamoto and Brian Peters have average runs. Calvin Wan has a good run, a little shallow exiting the power alley but a decent run, mid 70’s. Kazu Hayashida looks great on the bank, a little lower than the judges would like, but overall a great runs!! 2 of the judges give Kazu a score in the 90s, his toal score was 89.5. That should get him in for tandem! Kyle mohan has an alright run, good line around the course, several cheers for him. There’s definitely some rotary heads here!! Tony Angelo has a great run, great line with lots of smoke!! The judges like it too, score is 93.42!!

Tommy Suell has some troubles mid-bank and loses drift, he’s straight thru the power alley, that car just isn’t running right since they replaced the motor yesterday. 0
Blake Fuller has a great run going but taps the final hairpin clipping point, that will be a deduction. His score is still in the mid 80’s.

Henry Schelley has a devent run going but washes out on the switchback after the power alley. That’s a zero.
Joon Maeng has a good run, a little slow at only 70mph exiting the bank but overall a solid run! 87.

Tony Brakohiapa has a good run, only 65mph exiting the bank, not much smoke, but a great line! 91
More to come!!
