It seems like people with short names get all the credit in the aftermarket car scene. What LJ, RJ, and Ron B are to the Honda and Acura emblems, Non is to Nissan. Back when the B-series motor was just starting to get popularity, Non was going SR. For his latest project with JP Aerodynamics and Enonvativ Force, Fujita went back to his roots – his K roots.
To Honda people, a K motor is one of the greatest motors of all time. Nismo tuners find it to be one of the worst. The stock KA motor came in single and dual overhead cam setups in North American 240’s while the Japanese spec rides were coming with CA18’s (a.k.a. the mini-RB) and SR20’s. To prove his undisputed prowess with the S platform, Non stuck to North American parts foward of the firewall.
These days, it’s hard to dispute the number of Silvia-faced SR-swapped cars that are hitting the pages of magazines. This Zenki-faced S14 wears Skyline-esque JP bumpers and skirts, with Wise providing the wider fenders. While this car got some publicity when it was white, Non decided to raise the bar by painting the car with the Nismo/Xanavi racing scheme that is used on the JGTC Skyline and 350Z. The vented Carbo Fiber hood also continues the scheme, while APR GT mirrors and a Rotora GT wing finish the exterior off.
Under the hood, OS Giken is the name of the game. Enonvativ is the North American distributor for OS Giken, which is something of a trademark for Fujita’s cars. First of all, the naturally-aspirated KA24DE was given an OS Giken turbo maniforld and Garrett T3/T4 turbo. Air is forced in through the Trust intake manifold, through the Greddy front mount, and out through the Trust titanium exhaust. Internally, OS Giken Cams, cam gears, rods, low-compression pistons, and crankshaft help stabilize the engine for the increased air and the Tomei fuel pump powering the RC Engineering 740cc injectors, which is tuned through a Technosquare ECU and a laptop in the passenger seat.
In the cabin, the Safety 21 rollcage keeps the driver safe from wayward drifters, while the STACK gauge cluster and Defi gauges monitor the under-hood action. Keeping with the old-school that is Non Fujita, the interior has a single old-school Recaro seat, Momo steering wheel and corresponding quick-release, a Cyber shift know, and racing pedals handle the driving duties.
Putting the power to the ground is an OS Giken twin-plate clutch and limited slip, which spin the 18×8.5 and 18×10.5 ROJA wheels with ease. As much as the Falken 512 tires are known for traction, you can’t blame Falken when the 225/40 and 245/40 18″ tires break loose. GAB Coilovers bring the body just over the top of the tires, while Cusco, Nismo, and Tein pieces brace the rest of the chassis and trim out the suspension.
Non Fujita has stepped up his game with his latest S14 creation. Not many tuners can reinvent themselves time and time again like Fujita has.
