QUALIFYING RESULTS FROM ROUND ONE OF 2021 FORMULA DRIFT PRO CHAMPIONSHIP

Posted on May 7, 2021 by Toxic

EVENT DETAILS

Date: Friday, May 7, 2021

Location: Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, Braselton, GA

Event: Round 1: Royal Purple Road To The Championship Presented By O’Reilly Auto Parts

RESULTS FROM QUALIFYING PRESENTED BY MEN’S JOURNAL

1. Matt Field (USA) – Falken Tire / Drift Cave Chevrolet Corvette

2. Fredric Aasbo (Norway) – Rockstar Energy Drink Toyota GR Supra

3. Aurimas Bakchis (Lithuania) – Falken Tires / Feal Suspension Nissan S15

NOTES

  • A new Knock-out Qualifying Format is being used for the first time this weekend
  • KQF sees the top seeded drivers run first, setting the standard for the subsequent drivers. Drivers run once to set their qualifying position
  • The bottom eight drivers have a chance to run a second time to improve their position within the bottom 8, or perhaps recover from an incomplete run, which would otherwise see them disqualified
  • Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta hosted the very first FD competition event in 2004 and has remained on the calendar ever since (2020 excluded)
  • Tires from all five of the 2021 FD PRO Championship partner brands – Falken, Federal, GT Radial, Nexen and Nitto – are represented in the top half of the qualification table
  • Because FD ATL is an evening event, all PRO competitors are using LED undercar lighting supplied by Official Lighting Partner, TYPE S
