Rosamond, Ca August 3 2012- The weekend of July 27-29 Just Drift was out at Willow Springs International Raceway for round 3. of their TopDrift Pro-Am series presented by ACT Clutch & Megan Racing. The event took place at the Walt James Stadium Track, turn out for the event was good with over 30 driver and a good showing of fans in the stands.
It was a rare 3 day weekend out at the track with practice for all TopDrift drivers taking place Friday night and the main event taking place on Saturday night. That Sunday Just Drift would also be holding a drift clinic. Qualifying for the event took place on same day as event. As for normal judges were Taka Aono, Justin Pawlak, Hiro Sumida and special guest judge Michael Essa.
Tyler Wolfson Driver of the Gt Radial Mazda Rx-7 FD was able to take the #1 qualifying spot.
Also Jason Kim would take home the Stealth Custom Fab – Crazy Angle Award for the best Angle during his qualifying runs earning him a bonus $250
All drivers were allowed three qualifying run’s. Full qualifying result will soon be available on the Just Drift web site
In the end the finals would come down to Andy Hateley Vs. Luke Pakula, with Hateley taking the overall win for the event. Full season standing can be found HERE.
The fallowing day on Sunday Just Drift was holding a drift clinic at the same track for those driver’s looking to get into the sport as well as just some guy’s out for a fun track day and hanging out.
Formula D driver Jeff Jones made his way out to the track to try out some new setting on his car in preparation for the upcoming FD round in Vegas. Also Joon Maeng was out testing out some parts on his crew chiefs car and giving him some lessons on Drifting. I will be very beneficial if you have crew that can drive and understand what you’re talking about when you need adjustments done to the car. We can’t wait for him to get his new build up and running.
