With the European Championship currently taking place in France, it’s easy to lose sight of other goings on inEurope and Ireland at the moment, but what if I told you that one of the biggest motorsport events ever held in Ireland was taking place on July 2nd and 3rd in Mondello Park.
Round 3 of the 2016 Irish Drift Championship COMBINED WITH Round 3 of the Drift Allstars European Series, will take place in Mondello Park on July 3rd.At this event a 30-strong grid of Irish drivers will take on more than 15 international guest drivers – representing more than 14 countries around the world – as the Drift Allstars series comes to town in an attempt to defeat Ireland’s 12-year undefeated streak in competitive drifting on home soil.
With current and 4 time European drift champion James Deane from County Cork leading the Irish defence alongside ex-Boyzone band member Shane Lynch, current championship leader Duane McKeever, 16 year-old starlet Jack Shanahan and many, many more, the Irish are looking as strong as ever. We certainly need to be though, as drivers will be coming from as far away as South Africa, Australia, Lebanon and the UAE, in cars sometimes packing over 1,000 horsepower as they attempt to end our undefeated streak. Steve Biagoni from the UK will be leading the charge as the International Invasion will try to defeat the hometown heroes. He will be joined by European Championship vice champion Janis Eglite from Latvia in his 1000hp BMW E46. With over 50,000 horsepower of high octane action descending opn Mondeloo Park for Irelands biggest motorsport event weekend it is set to be one to remember. Continue reading
