Formula Drift:R3 Great 8 Tandem Results from Wall

Great 8 and its 6pm in Jersey!  Almost done for the night, and who will come out up top?  Only time will tell.  Here goes the action.

Robbie Nishida Vs. JR – Gittin leads and is high on to the bank. Nishida stays close and runs a slightly shallower line.  Robbies car shuts down. Robbie calls for 5 minutes.  Robbie has roken and will not continue.  JR moves into the final 4

Chris Forsberg Vs. Tyler McQuarrie – Tyler leads with Cris staying close.  Solid run from both.  Chris leads with Tyler mirroring Chris through the course.  Tyler gets the win and moves into the semi-finals

DMac Vs. Sam Hubinette – Dmac leads with Sam giving chase and staying close to DMac through the course. Sam leads with DMac mirroring Sam through the course!  Great run! DMac moves on! 

Ken Guhi Vs. Taka Aono – Gushi leads with Taka behind.  Small gap between the drivers.  Taka leads with a great entry.  Correction from Taka and Ken will get the win.

Dmac leads, Robbie washes out on entrty.
Robbie leads, Robbie smokes out DMac – Darren advances

JTP vs Joon Maeng(Pat was DQ’s due to a Technical Infraction)
JTP leads both drivers even.
Joon leads,  JTP super close evens up with Joon coming down the hill. – Judges call OMT

OMT
JTP leads, Jtp spins in the horseshoe!!!
Joon leads, Joon pulls away from JTP. – Joon advances

Chris Forsberg vs Tyler McQuarrie
Chris leads, Both drivers mirror and smoke out the track.
Tyler leads, both drivers great again but chris is closer.  Chris advances

Ken Gushi vs Ryan Hampshaa
Hampshaa leads, both drivers awesome through the course with lots of smoke.
Gushi leads, both drivers even through course.  Hampshaa advances!

Great 8 Runs…

Bill Sherman Vs. Chris Forsberg
Bill leads with an entry speed of 95mph.   Good initiation from both and lots of smoke from Chris.  Bill may have kissed the wall on exit of the 2nd clip.  Great run from both.  Bill – 7 Chris – 2
Chris leads not backing down and staying on Chris through the entire course.  Great solid run.  Was enough to lock down and push him into the semi-finals??  Bill 8  Chris -4  Bill moves on.

Tanner Vs. JR
Tanner leads with JR giving chase.  90+mph entry and great anngle through the teardrop and into the first clipping point from both.  Tanner -8  JR – 5
JR leads and comes in with a early initiation.  Goes sideways off course and Tanner straightens to avoid the hit.  Both off course.  Score 0 -0  Tanner moves on

Rhys Vs. Conrad
Rhys leads and has a great initiation.  Conrad comes in close on the teardrop and looks like hes gonna spin when you hear the motor roar and pulling out and into the clip.  Near spin will affect Conrads score.  Rhys -7  Conrad -3
Conrad leads and comes in to the teardrop going wide on exit into the first clipping point.  Rhys stays close and able to maintain good angle with the sow speeds.  Rhys -7 Conrad – 3  Rhys moves on.

Sam Vs Ryan Tuerck
Sam leads and on initiation, Sam goes wide and off course!  Ryan maintains his speed and angle and stays on course.  Sam – 0  Ryan – 7
Ryan leads mirroring Ryan and staying on his bumper or door panel through thee course.  Sam -9  Ryan 8.  Ryan moves on!  How will this affect the current point standings?

The rain is coming down pretty good!!

Sam vs Ryuji – Sam leads – Miki spins out midway thru the bank. Sam drives a smooth run. Adv 8-0 Sam Miki leads – Miki spins again transitioning thru the power alley. Sam drives around him and moves on!

Nishida vs Tuerck
Nishida leads – both drivers seem comfortable in the rain, Nishida opens a lead by the end of the run. 5-3 Adv Nishida
Tuerck leads – Tuerck spins going thru the power alley, nishida spins to avoid Tuerck and taps the wall. Nishida moves on 9-3

Rhys Vs. Yoshioka
Rhys leads and enters at 93mph,  Rhys with a major correction on entry of first clipping point.  Yoshioka keeping a constant line.  Adv Yoshioka 7-0
Yoshioka leads and Rhys coming in hot and determined and goes right into the tire wall on entry.  Rhys is ok and Yoshioka will move on.

Sam Hubinette Vs Orido
Sam leads with a 88mph entry.  Orido close behind and great angle and speed.  Orido was on the throttle and on Sam through course.  Adv.  Orido 9-7
Orido leads with an entry of 88.6mph, Another great run with Sam following Orido right through the entire course.  Adv Sam 9-8.  Orido 17- Sam 16 OMT!

Sam leads with a repetition of the first run.  Entry speed this time was 92.5mph  great speed and angle and the judges give advantage to Sam 9-7
Orido leads with an entry of 88.8mph, Orido with a great line and Sam following suit.  Adv even 8-8  Winner is Sam 17-16

Takatori Vs. Tony B.
Takatori leads and you got Tony with a slight correction on entry to clipping point.  Both maintain a good run.  Adv Takatori 7-5
Tony B. leads and gives Takatori a smoke screen.  Great speed and angle from both as Takatori going a little wide on first clipping point.  Adv.  Tony 7-6.  OMT!  Takatori 13 – Tony 12

OMT!
Takatori leads and both come in with great speed and angle.  entering the first clip Tony spins out .  Adv Takatori 9-0
Tony leads and comes in on the throttle.  Takatori following close behind and ridding right up on the wall into the first clipping point.  Tony spins on last clip! Takatori moves on.

Dai Vs. Robbie
Dai leads and enters at 86.3mph, great speed into first clipping point and Robbie straightens out.  Adv. Dai 6-0
Robbie leads and comes in at 98mph!  Dai is close behind but Robbie has a better angle on entry.  Into the first clipping point and into the 2nd.  Adv Robbie 9-6.  Not enough to get past Dai.  Dai moves on 12-9
