NZ Drift Series – Mad Mike Takes The Win at Round 3

Drift Round 3 – Mad Mike stands tall

Despite the soaking conditions, Auckland’s Mad Mike Whiddett dominated the competition at round three of the newly named NOS Energy NZ Drift Series in association with NAC Insurance yesterday at Taupo Motorsport Park to secure his first win of the 2009 NZ Drift Series season. Carrying his podium-finishing form to Taupo, Mike backed-up his second and third place finishes at the opening two rounds respectively with a spot on the top step.

Chasing Mike to the podium was double-defending NZ Drift Series champion, Carl Ruiterman, who returned to his first final battle since round two in 2008. It was a welcomed return to form for Carl, who qualified second and carried onto the second spot on the podium.

NZ Drift Series Round 3 August 30

GAME ON – NZ DRIFT ROUND 3

On Sunday, August 30, the NZ Drift Series will descend on Taupo Motorsport Park for round three of the five-round 2009 series. Heading into the halfway point in the season, Dargaville’s Gaz Whiter has already established a commanding lead in the championship, thanks to round honours at the opening two rounds.

Keeping Gaz honest is Mad Mike, who scored a second and a third at the opening two rounds. And with three rounds left, there are still plenty of drivers who can step up to make a play for the championship. Gates will be open from 10am, and spectator entry is just $20. NZ Drift Round 2 – Whiter Goes Back-To-Back

NZ DRIFT ROUND 2 – WHITER GOES BACK-TO-BACK

Dargaville’s Gaz Whiter continued his strong start to the 2009 NZ Drift Series in association with NAC Insurance season when he charged to the top of the field at round two of the NZ Drift Series at Pukekohe Park Raceway.

Facing changing track conditions throughout the day, Gaz shone where many struggled, cutting his way through the field to emerge ahead of the field of New Zealand’s top drifters to take his second win of the season, and his sixth win in eight events behind the wheel of his new Toyo Tires Nissan Silvia S14.
