Conrad Grunewald to build 2010 Camaro for SEMA
Sources close to GM have revealed to us that Conrad Grunewald has been awarded a 2010 Camaro to build for the 2009 SEMA show. Conrad was one of 8 builders selected to build cars for the show. We anticipate that the car would be turned into a drift car much like how Rhys Millen built a Time Attack-themed car for Hyundai at the 2008 SEMA show which was later turned into his 2009 drift car. The announcement was “leaked” to us, with a formal announcement coming soon. We expect the formal announcement to have some sort of rendering. We believe we are the first media outlet to announce this exciting news, so chalk this up to another EverythingDrift Exclusive!!
Dai Yoshihara’s Monthly Report
Formula Drift – Wall Speedway, New Jersey
Coming into Round 3 of the Formula Drift series in New Jersey, Dai had many expectations of his car but mostly of himself. Not performing to his normal standards in Rounds 1 and 2, Dai came into New Jersey with much anticipation and excitement to prove that he has what it takes to win. His new car, the Lexus IS350, went through major improvements so that it will be in the best condition possible for the race. With the hard work of his team, they were able to fix some major bugs and improve the cars handling.
Due to rain, the practice and qualifying rounds were cancelled on Friday and were pushed to Saturday morning. After qualifying 9th overall Saturday morning, Dai was paired up with Taka Aono for the Top 32 competition. In the first pass, Dai had led and drifted the course with ease and had an advantage over Taka and his AE86. In the second pass, Dai followed and gave Taka a run for his money but spun his car at turn 3 which knocked him out of the main competition.
Mohan’s RX-8 is Fastest at Wall, in Top-32 Again
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mohan’s RX-8 is fastest at Wall, in top-32 again
June 12, 2009 (Signal Hill, Calif.) – With the rain that cancelled Friday practice at Wall Speedway for the third round of the Formula Drift Pro Championship, most teams were happy that they had the chance to practice the day before, especially considering that Formula Drift had not been to Wall Speedway since 2007.
Transporter issues delayed the delivery of several cars to Wall Speedway, including the 2009 Mazda RX-8 of Kyle Mohan. Mohan was one of the few drivers who had not been to Wall Speedway before, and with the cancellation of Friday’s practice, would only have the short Saturday session to get things figured out before qualifying.
Vaughn Gittin Jr. Takes 2nd at Formula Drift Round 3
VAUGHN GITTIN JR. TAKES SECOND AT FORMULA DRIFT ROUND THREE
Vaughn Gittin Jr. rolled into Wall Stadium for Round Three of Formula Drift with two goals – to put on a great show for all of the East Coast fans and to finish the day standing atop the coveted podium. After an amazing day of drifting Saturday, he managed to achieve both of those goals, plus take part in Formula Drift history.
Vaughn started off weekend with a little throttle – Throttle Thursday that is! Thursday’s practice was combined with driver ride-alongs for the DC Shoes BMX team, as well as other local BMX pros. Vaughn had the pleasure of taking X Games gold medalists Chad Kagy and Scotty Cranmer for the ride of their lives in his Falken Tire Ford Racing Mustang. Later in the evening, the roles reversed and Vaughn along with other Formula Drift drivers were able to watch the BMX stars live it up in their own environment at the Incline Club in Lakewood, New Jersey. Vaughn even hopped on a bike himself – and jumped it into the foam pit!

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ (June 7, 2009) – Performance and preparation paid off as Team Falken Tire’s factory drivers swept the podium at Wall Speedway in Saturday night’s round 3 of the 2009 Formula Drift season. Darren McNamara took the top rung in his Saturn Sky; Vaughn Gittin, Jr., earned second with his 2010 Ford Mustang GT; and Tyler McQuarrie finished third, driving his Nissan 350Z.
The achievement was historical as this was the first time ever for three Team Falken cars to take the top three positions as well as the first time one team has dominated the podium.
