Mopar® Announces Relaunch of Moparspeed.com

• Samuel Hübinette and Gary Scelzi to kick off the new Team Mopar® driver blog section
• Revamped Moparspeed.com will also include desktop wallpaper available for download and enhanced navigation and design for motorsports enthusiasts

Center Line, Mich. — Mopar® today announced the relaunch of Moparspeed.com, its popular Team Mopar racing Web site for motorsports enthusiasts. The revamped Web site will feature exclusive new content, including a weekly Team Mopar driver blog section and updated desktop wallpaper graphics featuring Team Mopar race teams available for download. The site changes also include enhanced navigation and design.

Headlining the new Web site’s debut will be blog entries from two-time Formula Drift champion Samuel Hübinette and four-time NHRA POWERade champion Gary Scelzi. Blog entries will be posted each week from Team Mopar drivers including: NHRA Pro Stock driver Allen Johnson, SCCA SPEED World Challenge GT pilot Cindi Lux, SCORE Desert Series off-road racer Brian Collins and USAC Racing Series circle track drivers Brady Bacon and Brad Sweet.

Moparspeed.com offers a unique view of the race drivers and teams who compete under the Team Mopar banner. Team Mopar racing news items are published each week. The Web site also features Mopar Performance parts information for professional and grassroots racers, driver and team owner bios and photos, race vehicle specifications, race series schedules and a scoreboard feature that allows fans to keep track of their favorite driver’s stats throughout the season. Visitors can also subscribe to the Mopar Speed e-zine, a weekly newsletter recapping Team Mopar racing action.

70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.

Originally used in the 1920s, Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It was also widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s – the muscle car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth “package cars” equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of “Special Parts” for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.

Today, Chrysler LLC’s Global Service & Parts division is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of nearly 250,000 authentic Mopar replacement parts, components and accessories for Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles sold around the world.
