Fort Worth, Texas – September 11, 2014 – It has been nearly two months since Conrad Grunewald competed in the last Formula DRIFT round in Monroe, Washington. The driver of the No. 77 Megan Racing/Top 1 Oil Chevrolet Camaro is more than ready to get back to the competition and take on his fellow drifters in Round 6: Showdown, set to take place September 12-13 at Texas Motor Speedway.
Grunewald is excited for the event not only because he has been itching to get back to the track in his Camaro, but because it is in his birth state of Texas. “I really am looking forward to this one,” said Grunewald. “This is kind of my hometown event, in a way, and I’ve been anticipating coming out to Texas all season.”
The Great American Speedway will bear witness to two days of drifting action, with the practice and qualifying events taking place on Friday, September 12, and the main event taking place on Saturday, September 13.
The track opened in 1997, occupying 1,500 acres. Texas Motor Speedway hosts various motorsports events but is most known for playing host to NASCAR events. With the ability to seat over 190,000, Texas Motor Speedway has the largest capacity of any NASCAR track.
Last year, this track proved to be a challenge for the drivers, as it is one of the fastest drift tracks on the circuit and one of the most technical for tandem drifting. “This track is indeed a challenging one, but the challenge is what makes it interesting,” said Grunewald. “I’m just eager to race under the Texas night sky in front of my fans. I love my fans in Texas!”
The gates will open to the public at 12 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday. To buy tickets, visithttp://formulad.com/schedule/tickets/.
