The home of British Motorsport was the location for Round 5 of the British Drift Championship. Many famous racers have driven the curves of Silverstone but this time it would be the Super-Pro drivers taking to the track.
The weather was uncharacteristically dry for a change, this resulted in huge clouds of smoke covering the track making it difficult for the chasing drivers.
Huge crowds formed at the edges of the track to see the best drifters in Britain and they would see an impressive display as Shane O’Sullivan took the top spot in qualifying.
The afternoon action kicked off with Mark Huxley and Wayne Keeber going up against each other with Mark Huxley taking the win.
Mark Luney and Lluis Lopez battled hard with Lopez ending up in the gravel, the judges decided that this was due to trying to avoid a collision so he continued through to the Top 8.
Matt Carter and Simon Perry had a very close battle with Carter taking the win after a OMT.
Shane O’Sulivan would take on teammate Danny Eyles, beating his to earn 3rd place on the podium.
Wes Keating and Lluis Lopez would battle for the top spot, after a close first run Keating made a mistake and the win was awarded to Lopez.
Shane O’Sullivan has done enough to claim the 2014 Championship for the Super-Pro class as a result of his 3rd place.
Come along to Anglesey this weekend (20th-21st) to see who can take the remaining places in the Super-Pro class.
