Well Anglesey hosted the final round, it was a great track and the weather was good for once this year. During my practice runs I didn’t know what to expect, the track looked challenging but straight from the off I was feeling good with the car.
The altenzo tyres were gripping well, unfortunately it wasn’t long before another mechanical issue would take me off the track and back to the paddock with the rear hub mounts breaking after just four runs. The mission was on again to get it fixed.
Thanks to Team MnM for pulling out all the stops, we got it welded up and back on the car but not in time to get out for any more practice. So straight out for qualifying it was, 28th was not great but with the issue was happy to be in the game for the battles.
Sunday was dry again and I was the very first battle of the day and was feeling pretty good about things. First run was practice run and I was the chase car, we flew into the first corner and I was pinned to the rear of the lead car, he spun and I completed the run. The first run of the battle was much the same, we both came out of the first corner close but then I couldn’t believe it when my throttle stuck wide open sending me off onto the grass.
The second run I thought I just as well go at it hard to try and force a mistake only to find out later that he had put 2 wheels off on the first run so could have took a bit less risk on the second. That was me out of competition for the last round.
To sum up my first year back and with a fresh build, its been a real challenge but I still feel there has been lots of good things to take from the year and am already looking forward to trying for a better run of luck and improvements in 2015.
Thanks to everyone that has helped me this year, especially all of our sponsors.
