Well the 2015 Formula D season has finally Kicked off down on the Streets of Long Beach and boy is it looking like it will be a season full of excitement. It was such a blast seeing all the new builds as well as new drivers. And over all just getting back to Drifting it self.

Friday Kicked off with practice and qualifying for the weekends event and the most talked about topic of the weekend was the return of two time Formula D Champion Tanner Foust. Tanner was putting down some amazing runs during practice all day till he got into a slight altercation with the wall. But in traditional Tanner Foust way and to his very talented crew at Papadakis Racing he was able to make it back out and put down a solid qualifying run and land him a spot in the top 32 battles.

Forrest

Fan favorite Forrest Wang Put down two amazing run’s and was able to take the #1 Spot in qualifying. Forrest has gained so much in his talent as a pro driver and is sure to be a contender the rest of the year.

One of the big surprises of the Main competition day on Saturday was #1 qualifier being  knocked out by #32 qualifier Matt Coffman.

ED143891Fredric Aasbo would end up facing Odi Bakchis in the finals. Both Drivers were giving it their all and showing the best driving we have seen to date from the two.

Podium

In the End Aasbo would end up with the win and Odi taking 2nd along with Ryan Tuerck finishing in 3rd place. Tuerck and his team deserve a bunch of credit for trying to preform a diff change under 5 minutes during his battle with Aasbo. They came so close to finishing the repair but just rain out of time, but his entire team deserve a nice round of applause.  Now we move on to where it all started….Road Atlanta. Can Aasbo continue with his momentum from long Beach or will past champs Forsberg, Gittin, or Foust take the battle to him. All we know is it sure to be yet another exciting event.
