We thought we would bring you an introduction to Team 1340 as we will be bringing you plenty of content from these guys over the coming months.
The team is made up of Adam Elder and Andy Stroud who both compete in multiple championships including Driftcup, Fueltopia Barrel Sprint and Formula G.
Adam got into drifting a few years ago by practicing at the ‘Drift What Ya Brung’ days at Santa Pod, from there he started to compete in the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint. Adam has proven to be a very consistent driver and is the current champion in the rear wheel drive class, this has gave him the opportunity to compete in Gymkhana Grid, where he was also very competitive.
Adam drives a Nissan S14 which produces 415HP from its 2L Turbo SR20 engine, the car is fitted with HSD suspension to allow him to make changes to the setup of the car depending on the type of event and track conditions.
A Rocket Bunny kit supplied by Kinzuru Kits gives an aggressive look to the car, making it stand out when it’s either sideways on track or waiting for the green light during the Fueltopia Barrel Sprint rounds.
Past highlights in Adams drifting history include getting to be part of a three car train with BDC Pro drivers Michael Marshall and Matt Carter during Drift Outlaws last season. Looking forward, Adam aims to retain his Fueltopia Barrel Sprint championship along with becoming he first Formula G champion.
If both of those championships weren’t enough, he is also looking to compete in Driftcup later this year with the aim of earning himself a licence to drift in the British Drift Championship against the nation’s best drifters.
Andy Stroud is the other half of the team, some people might recognise the name as he competed in the British Drift Championship in the past.
Andy got into the drifting when a friend gave him a chance to drive his Ford Sierra, he quickly learnt how to control the car and advanced his skills at the ‘Drift What Ya Brung’ days. From there he made it all the way into the BDC Pro Class in 2011 with his R32 Skyline.
Andy drives a 1989 Nissan Skyline R32.4, which is a R32 with the front end swapped from a R34. The Nissan RB engine is gone, in its place is a 5.0L BMW V8 from an E39 M5. The car is also fitted with a one off BEE-R kit.
Andy’s drifting highlights include getting onto the podium in Drift Outlaws in his hand built SR powered Ford Sierra and advancing in to the Pro Class of the British Drift Championship back in 2011.
His aims for the future are to prove himself in Driftcup and earn his place in the British Drift Championship.
