Casper Canul was looking to place high in this weekends past Formula Drift: Round 4 in Las Vegas event. After an incident in New Jersey, which caused him to be knocked out early during competition. He went into Las Vegas looking to make a come back even stronger since he has now broken in the new BC (Brian Crower) motor that he acquired and has become fully comfortable with and was ready to come out and show what the car and he himself had to give. With the help of his new found back yard to practice and zero in the car at a local Bi-Weekly venue called Inland Drift in Lake Perris. Casper had been able to make sure all bugs were worked out, and perfected the car on his way to his next stop Las Vegas!
Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as it came the time at the event. Thursday’s practice Casper was aggressive and tagged the wall and was very confident and having fun with the car and the heat. On Friday, Casper’s parents arrived showing their support, only to have problems arise with the turbo boost which was considerably down in power. During practice before qualifying the ARK Nissan S14.5 broke the rear knuckle, a caliper, and a piece of rotor nearly hit a photographer which Casper later autographed. Casper missed his 1st qualifying run as the crew worked feverishly to get the car back together. Casper with no e-brake and significantly down on power qualified 32nd placing him into the following day’s main event. “I’m very proud of my crew they worked hard giving me a shot at qualifying. When things go wrong, all I want is to fight it out on the track.” On Saturday with spare parts not matching up, there was no time to make the repairs and Casper went to battle at a disadvantage. “Having the car in this condition was rare: no boost or e-brake made it very tough to battle. I have to thank the LV locals and my crew for their sweat and hard work!” Casper ended up going against Robbie Nishida, the #1 qualifier and was forced to retire after losing against Robbie due to car problems.
Also, Sports Racing Fuel, Inc. has decided to sponsor Casper’s fuel for the remainder of the 2009 Season. Last year during testing and some events Casper realized Sports 112 octane race gas had a much quicker throttle response as well as significantly lower engine temperatures. Casper is extremely excited for this year now that the car has been tuned to Sports Racing Fuel when last year the benefits came by just dropping the fuel in when it which was tuned to a different gas. Now, this year he will get every benefit from this wonder fuel including increased horsepower and torque. “The heat in Vegas wasn’t as tough on the car as I thought it would be. Sports Fuel really made a difference!”
Last year when Casper decided that he is back in racing he joined forces with Frontmann Competitive Corporation, and developed a product that is synonymous with the fierce attitude that is present at the Formula drift events around the world. Frontmann developed a concept that has action, style and glamor. Pump-Action Fashion in the form of Designer Jeans and Designer t-shirts called 12-GA rose out of the smoke. The whole collection has taken a less than a year to develop and and is a product of the same under the gun pressure driver’s like Casper experience during their battles on the track.
