VIVA LA MONSTOR
a look at Monstor Fabrication’s S14.5

When is a drift car not a drift car? When it’s a Monstor! The Monstor Fabrication Nissan S14.5 drift car has been tearing up the track for the past 2 years, and you can expect 2006 to be no different. Wild animals like this one tend to be slightly camera shy, but we talked driver Casper Canul and the Monstor Fabrication team into letting it out of its’ cage for an exclusive photo shoot in the off season between the 2005 and 2006 season. Casper Canul Update: Round 3 & 4

Posted on July 23, 2009 by George

Casper Canul was looking to place high in this weekends past Formula Drift: Round 4 in Las Vegas event. After an incident in New Jersey, which caused him to be knocked out early during competition.  He went into Las Vegas looking to make a come back even stronger since he has now broken in the new BC (Brian Crower) motor that he acquired and has become fully comfortable with and was ready to come out and show what the car and he himself had to give. With the help of his new found back yard to practice and zero in the car at a local Bi-Weekly venue called Inland Drift in Lake Perris. Casper had been able to make sure all bugs were worked out, and perfected the car on his way to his next stop Las Vegas!

Unfortunately that wasn’t the case as it came the time at the event. Thursday’s practice Casper was aggressive and tagged the wall and was very confident and having fun with the car and the heat. On Friday, Casper’s parents arrived showing their support, only to have problems arise with the turbo boost which was considerably down in power. During practice before qualifying the ARK Nissan S14.5 broke the rear knuckle, a caliper, and a piece of rotor nearly hit a photographer which Casper later autographed. Continue reading →

2009 Formula Drift: R1-SOLB – Round Of 32

Posted on April 11, 2009 by George

2nd Update: This has been cancelled and will not be a rerun, Casper wasn’t able to run and was allowed the bypass via not running to save time.  Justin will move on to Top 16

Update: Casper Canul and Justin Pawlak will run a 2nd run.  Apparently both broke from the tap and JTP was supposed to do a bye run.  That didn’t happen, so they will both get to go at it for their 2nd run.  This will happen at the begining of the Top 16 to determine a winner.

Daijiro Yoshihara Vs. Jeff Jones
Dai leads, and comes out with Jeff giving chase and mirroring his entry. Dai able to pull away a bit and maintain a gap through the sweeper.  Good run from both
Jeff leads, and comes in with a sick entry on the wall past the tire wall.  Entry into the tranisiton is again close and Dai spins!  Jeff Jones moves on!  A privateer from the grassroots scene.

Taka Aono Vs. Pat Mordaunt
Taka leads, and come out sideways.  Pat is close behind and both stay in drift through the course.  Slight correction at end by Taka.
Pat leads, and comes out with a very nice angle.  Taka is close and mirrors Pat with a slightly shalower angle.  Pat spins and comes to a halt at the end.  Taka moves on

Casper Canul Back in the Driver’s Seat

Posted on April 10, 2009 by George

Casper Canul is a Mexican-American who dropped off the drift scene in 2008. So we thought, in all reality he dropped off a visual drift scene by not running Formula Drift. Since then we have know that he has done random drift clinics in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic and Mexico, and kept the drifting culture alive and well in the Hispanic world while his absence was seen from the Formula Drift season.

Today we caught up with Casper Canul as he qualified Top 32 for Round 1 of Formula Drift. Marking his return to the 2009 FD Season. We got to speak with Casper and ask him one thing. Why have you decided to return to a scene we all know you loved? “I believe I can win. My supporters and family believe I can win too. It is through a monumental out pour of support from Swing Shift Motorsports, Frontmann Competitive Corp. and ARK Performance that has made my come back possible. My supporters in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic felt that it was time to show what the Hispanic Community needs a representative competing at the highest level of drifting. so to everyone I am grateful.”

Look forward to seeing Casper Canul in Round 1 and as well as the entire 2009 Formula Drift series.
