So as we look back to 2006. Where the hell is Quoc Ly in 2011? This will be the first year I dont see him running Fomrula Drift. He’s come a long way and been with DriftSpeed for quite some time now. We we’re hoping to see him at XDC a couple weeks back, but that didn’t happen. We hope Quoc gets picked back up and if not, can go privateer and we get to see him out there doing what we know he loves to do. The economy’s been kicking all our asses lately and we hope we all can survive the Not to mention hat hapened to Jasper Performance while I am thinking about it…Right before the start of the new Formula D season, Everything Drift had the opportunity to catch up with Quoc Ly of Westminster, CA. 2009 D1GP USA: Chicago – Round 3 Updates
As D1GP USA: Round 3 has started in the windy city known as Chicago. We have several updates you all might want to know that is going on.
– Judge Change: Adam Andretti has been replaced by Rob Flemming former NOPI Drifter as a judge for Round 3. He will remain on as the current judge for the last event in NJ as well.
– Quoc Ly: Quoc in the DriftSpeed Silvia rolled his car and ended on the roof. Quoc is ok after the incident.
– Chelsea Denofa: Chelsea took his drift machine backwards into the k-rail. No report as in how bad the damage was.
– Tania “Spooky” Bourbonnais – Tania took the former RMR GTO pretty hard into the wall. More on this as we get it. (Tanias Car)
– Zoltan Hajdu – Took his car into the K-Rail pretty hard. (Current Car)
– Canadian Pat Cyr qualified first, Damien Bagley qualified 2nd.

2009 Formula Drift: R1-SOLB – Round Of 32
2nd Update: This has been cancelled and will not be a rerun, Casper wasn’t able to run and was allowed the bypass via not running to save time. Justin will move on to Top 16
Update: Casper Canul and Justin Pawlak will run a 2nd run. Apparently both broke from the tap and JTP was supposed to do a bye run. That didn’t happen, so they will both get to go at it for their 2nd run. This will happen at the begining of the Top 16 to determine a winner.
Daijiro Yoshihara Vs. Jeff Jones
Dai leads, and comes out with Jeff giving chase and mirroring his entry. Dai able to pull away a bit and maintain a gap through the sweeper. Good run from both
Jeff leads, and comes in with a sick entry on the wall past the tire wall. Entry into the tranisiton is again close and Dai spins! Jeff Jones moves on! A privateer from the grassroots scene.
Taka Aono Vs. Pat Mordaunt
Taka leads, and come out sideways. Pat is close behind and both stay in drift through the course. Slight correction at end by Taka.
Pat leads, and comes out with a very nice angle. Taka is close and mirrors Pat with a slightly shalower angle. Pat spins and comes to a halt at the end. Taka moves on
