With the previous two rounds taking place at new venues, many of the 2021 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship teams were glad to return to the familiar surroundings of Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA for Round 5: Throwdown.
The Seattle round marks the second half of the season and is the point at which a number of leading drivers need to mount a determined assault on the title before it escapes their grasp. And with the new-for-2021 Knockout Qualifying Format throwing up some unpredictable qualifying results, it’s proving even harder to predict the FD PRO Championship winner.

RESULTS FROM FD PRO COMPETITION
Following the successful debut of the new drift arena in Englishtown, NJ for Round 3 of the 2021 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship, the teams relocated to another new track for Round 4: Borderlands, which would be hosted by Lake Erie Speedway in North East, PA.
The 3/8-mile oval track is popular with local drift racers but was totally new to the majority of FD PRO drivers, who would also need to contend with rain for Friday’s inaugural Knockout Qualifying Format (KQF) to decide the positions for Saturday’s competition heats.
To ensure high-speed action, Formula DRIFT created a new course layout for the teams, providing three sweeping Outside Zones that rewarded smoothness while encouraging proximity for the large crowd to enjoy during the tandem competition runs.

Orlando Speed World hosted Round Two of the 2021 Formula DRIFT PRO Championship and the opening round of the new PROSPEC Championship (formerly PRO2). This gave the capacity crowd its first opportunity to witness the new weekend format, which allows both PRO and PROSPEC drivers to qualify on Friday and compete on Saturday. With PROSPEC running in the middle of the day and PRO in the afternoon, both Championships have equal exposure to fans and the popular, free-to-view Formula DRIFT livestream.
