Round 2 of the British Drift Championship was held at Knockhill in Scotland.
Most of the competitors had long road trips to get to the circuit so a relaxing morning on Saturday helped them recover before the cars took to the track for practice. The Semi-Pro drivers were using a loop away from the main track to do their practice and qualifying.
The Pro and Super-Pro drivers got to use the Hill track that would be used for the battles on Sunday. The track is a fast initiation into a right hander with a steep drop into a longer left before slowing into a 90 degree right to finish.
Rain started just as the Super-Pro practice finished and by the time the Semi-Pros were ready for qualifying the track was beginning to look more like a lake. Amazingly there were very few spins during the session as the drivers battled to impress the judges whilst not spinning or leaving the track.
Sunday morning featured the Pro and Super-Pro qualifying with several well known drivers not making the grade.
After a short break the battles started with Semi-Pro where Matt Stevenson won his second round in a row beating Joe Ankers & Jack Symes.
The Pro battles followed with Martin Battye beating Ollie Elmore to take the win with Ollie Silcock making up the podium.
Rain showers started as the Super-Pro drivers took to the track for their battles. A few drivers were caught out and either ended up in the gravel or running wide. The Super-Pro class was also won by Martin Battye who is the first driver to win two classes on the same day. The Super-Pro podium was made up with Stephen Biagioni in second and David Waterworth in third.
We will sign off on this article by congratulating Ollie Elmore for moving up to the Pro class after getting 2nd place & Martin Battye for moving up to Super-Pro, we cant wait to see how the rest of the season goes for them.
