Knockhill.
Well first time at the great venue at Knockhill, the journey up to Scotland was like being abroad, with stunning scenery and tropical weather conditions.
All started off so well in practice with the new set-up of car meaning I could push hard from the off with the judges rating my line and angle. I easily nailed the track and felt confident for qualifying. Then bad luck struck again at the end of the practice session and yet another alternator problem causing charging issues which was the only component on car that wasn’t renewed in the winter rebuild.
The team then went to work to try and rectify the problem and with only an hour left until qualifying we decided the only way to get the Chaser out was to try run on one of our race transporter batteries! So the team fitted the battery and the 1JZ fired up.
As qualifying was about to start to say the heavens open would still be an understatement! With a huge storm hitting Knockhill circuit turning the track into a river. With the car misting up and only using the windscreen wipers when really necessary to save battery voltage the pressure got to me and so with 2 spins and 1 very average run I did not qualify.
The weekend was not a complete washout with fellow team mate Ollie Elmore scoring great points for the team with a second place in Pro class, and the car handling perfectly giving me huge confidence that my podium finish is not too far away.
With more seat time already booked before round three at Teesside Autodrome and the car getting more modifications I aim to show the British Drift Championship my true talent and drive to win races. Bring It On………… Thanks to all our sponsors for all their ongoing support.
