FEDERAL TIRE JOINS FORMULA DRIFT AS AN OFFICIAL TIRE SUPPLIER

The 2021 Formula DRIFT season will see Federal Tire join the premier PRO Championship as an official tire supplier. Federal has initially signed a two-year agreement to supply its extreme-performance Federal 595RS-R and 595RS-RR tire compounds. With reinforced sidewalls and enhanced tread stiffness, both Federal tire options are designed for maximum high-speed grip and cornering forces.

Federal Tire will be competing against four highly experienced and valued tire partners in the Formula DRIFT PRO Championship; Falken Tire, GT Radial, Nexen Tire and Nitto Tire.

Federal Tire will be supporting seven PRO drivers during 2021, which includes the following:

  • Jhonnattan Castro
  • Rome Charpentier
  • Jonathan Hurst
  • Kyle Mohan
  • Jonathan Nerren
  • Simen Olsen
  • Alec Robbins

“After ten long years, Federal Tire is excited to reunite with Formula DRIFT. In partnership with seven outstanding drivers, we’re looking forward to showcasing our award-winning 595RS-RR tire and compete at the highest level of motorsports once again,” said Jenny Chu, Marketing for Federal Tire.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Federal Tire to the Formula DRIFT paddock,” said Jim Liaw, President of Formula DRIFT. “We know it’s important to give teams and drivers as many options as possible to gain a competitive edge over their rivals, and we’re sure Federal Tire will allow the PRO Championship to remain the most exciting professional drift series in the world.”

FORMULA DRIFT ANNOUNCES 2021 SCHEDULE

Posted on January 15, 2021 by Toxic

Following a highly successful 2020 competition series, and despite many challenges caused by the COVID-19 global pandemic, Formula DRIFT is pleased to return to a full schedule for 2021. By releasing the schedule now, the organizers are enabling teams and fans to make plans for the new season, which kicks off in May at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta – the venue for the very first Formula DRIFT round in May 2004.

Given the unpredictable nature of the pandemic, the dates for both the Formula DRIFT PRO and Link ECU PROSPEC Championships may be subject to change but the series organizers are proceeding with confidence and optimism. As recently announced, PROSPEC replaces the PRO2 series, allowing a number of phased updates to the Technical and Sporting regulations over the next few seasons as part of the series’ evolution. For 2021, PROSPEC qualifying and competition will take place on the same days as the senior FD PRO category.

THE 2020 FORMULA DRIFT PRO AND LINK ECU PRO2 CHAMPIONSHIPS ARE DECIDED DURING A THRILLING TYPE S TITLE FIGHT WEEKEND

Posted on November 24, 2020 by Toxic

Vaughn Gittin Jr claims the 2020 FD PRO Championship

Fredric Aasbo wins FD PRO Round Seven

Aurimas Bakchis wins FD PRO Round Eight

Dmitriy Brutskiy is the 2020 Link ECU PRO2 Champion

Mike Power wins FD PRO2 Round Four

After months of speculation about whether there would even be a 2020 Formula DRIFT season, the teams arrived at The House of Drift – Irwindale Speedway – for the tradition season finale. With eight PRO and four Link ECU PRO2 Championship rounds squeezed into a compressed calendar of double-header events, the TYPE S Title Fight Weekend would be the ultimate test of resilience and consistency. The high-speed course used for the previous two rounds at Texas Motor Speedway had exacted a heavy toll on minds and machinery, and Irwindale would provide no relief. With its high-speed banking and unforgiving walls, both metal and egos would be dented or demolished before the PRO and PRO2 Champions were crowned.

To reflect the importance of the Link ECU PRO2 Championship, its Final Round would take place on Saturday, while Rounds Seven and Eight of the PRO Championship were scheduled for Friday and Sunday. And to sprinkle an extra wrinkle, Formula DRIFT had created a slightly different track layout to challenge the drivers further.
