BAKCHIS WINS 2019 FORMULA DRIFT OPENING ROUND AT STREETS OF LONG BEACH

With the 2018 season widely regarded as one of the most exciting in the series’ 15-year history, 2019 has all the ingredients for the most intense competition to date. And because nothing sits still, Formula DRIFT is welcoming new sponsors, drivers and cars to the series.

 

There are six rookies in the 2019 Formula DRIFT Black Magic Pro Championship, for whom the O’Reilly Auto Parts Streets of Long Beach presented by Permatex would be their first competitive outing on the Californian street course. They include three drivers from overseas and three inductees from the Formula DRIFT Link ECU Pro 2 Championship. The top three from the drifting feeder championship are title winner Travis Reeder plus runners up Dylan Hughes and Sebastien Gauthier.

Season 16 brings big changes and new partnerships for 2019

 

Formula DRIFT –  the world’s premier drifting series – is embarking on its sweet sixteenth season with a raft of updates to enhance the experience for fans both at the track and online. This includes a new FormulaD.com website, which has been optimized for mobile use, allowing fans to follow the action wherever they are. In addition to its new look, the website will have live bracket updates throughout the competition. There are also brand new driver bios and a media section with event photography and videos from the new FD Studios production team. The new website will launch immediately after the opening round in Long Beach, CA this weekend.

FORMULA DRIFT ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH FACEBOOK

Formula DRIFT –  the world’s premier drifting series – is excited to deliver live and on-demand content produced by FD Studios on Facebook Watch. Live and on-demand shows will kick-off from April 1, 2019, in conjunction with the first competition round of Formula DRIFT: The Streets of Long Beach.

The newly-formed FD Studios will create more than 100 hours of original content featuring specific shows with air dates on Facebook Watch, focusing on the action and drivers of the Formula DRIFT Championship. In addition, Formula DRIFT will continue to deliver the most widely viewed drifting livestream in the world to fans on Facebook by utilizing Facebook Live.

VAUGHN GITTIN JR. DRIFTS CLOVERLEAF INTERCHANGE IN 900HP FORD MUSTANG RTR SPEC 5-D.

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, MARCH 14, 2019 —

Back behind the wheel of his 900hp Ford Mustang RTR Spec 5-D that he used to drift the entirety of the Nürburgring, Vaughn Gittin Jr. checked another item off his bucket list: drifting a cloverleaf interchange.

Quote From Vaughn: “Entering a cloverleaf at maximum attack is something I’ve always wanted to do! There was nothing like the sound of the 5.0 revving out under the overpass portion as it echoed every which way! It was just the right amount of sketchiness and fun together… and quite a bit more challenging than I had expected linking it all together. And doing it at night made it that much more intense.”

Not only is this the same Ring conquering Mustang, but it shares the same DNA as the recently announced Mustang RTR Series 1 Powered by Ford Performance available at Ford dealers in April 2019.
