Formula DRIFT Announces 2016 CBS Sports Network Television Schedule

Long Beach, Calif. – March 22, 2016 – Formula DRIFT presented by BlackVue has announced its 2016 CBS Sports Network television schedule. “Formula DRIFT” will begin on Sunday, May 15 at 5:30 PM (ET). The fast paced action featuring bracketed head-to-head match-ups will anchor the coverage and be featured across 12 episodes. Coverage will also include an additional 8 shows of the behind-the-scenes program, “Formula DRIFT Insider.”

“We had a phenomenal opening year with CBS Sports Network,” said Ryan Sage, Vice President and Co-Founder of Formula DRIFT. “With awesome primetime original airings and well placed re-airs, CBS Sports Network has become an incredible partner to the Series and a destination for Formula DRIFT fans.”

The “Formula DRIFT” schedule adds to CBS Sports Network’s robust lineup of motorsports programming, which includes more than 350 hours of coverage throughout the year. The program will consist of live to tape coverage of each of the eight rounds of the Pro Championship including the newly added Canadian round of competition along with eight additional episodes of “Formula DRIFT Insider.” Continue reading →

Formula DRIFT Renews Relationship With Evergreen Speedway into 2018 Season

Long Beach, Calif. – February 24, 2016 – Formula DRIFT presented by Blackvue has renewed their relationship with Evergreen Speedway for three years extending into 2018. Since 2005, the venue has hosted the Series in the Pacific Northwest.

“Formula DRIFT’s priority has been to establish a foundation for the sport of Drifting,” said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “We found our home in the Pacific Northwest with Evergreen Speedway back in 2005. Since then, we have grown to be one of the largest events at the venue. By renewing our relationship with our third longest running venue for three more seasons only makes sense.”

In 2005, Formula DRIFT began the relationship with Evergreen Speedway. 2016 marks the 11th consecutive season for the Series to return to the venue, which is the 3rd longest running relationship for the Series with a track only followed by Irwindale Speedway and Road Atlanta. The event draws one of the largest attended crowds outside of Southern California showcasing the popularity of the sport in the Pacific Northwest. The event’s popularity stems from the exciting action on track. The course is one of the most challenging on the circuit and the variable weather conditions adds a dynamic element to the competition. JWood Media absolutely slayed this episode of the WG chronicles for our final event of 2015, Irwindale. As my previous 2 seasons have been, its a fitting finale to the season that was indeed a series of unfortunate events. The Formula DRIFT 2015 season has been a very exciting one after what seemed like it was going to be a slow start. Ken Gushi ran into some issues during Round 1 at Long Beach, but was able to bounce back with consecutive podium wins including a never-ending One More Time battle at Atlanta.
