2018 Formula DRIFT season opens with excitement and drama on the Streets of Long Beach
With new cars, drivers and teams attacking the corners for the long-awaited opening round of Formula DRIFT, the Streets of Long Beach promised a great deal of excitement and did not disappoint.
Highlights among the 2018 field included 2016 FD champion, Fredric Aasbo, driving his Rockstar Energy Drink / Nexen Tire 2019 Toyota Corolla, unveiled days earlier at the New York International Auto Show. Matt Field also debuted his Wish / Borla / Falken Tire Chevrolet Corvette, while Federico Sceriffo would bring his unique Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano Drift Spec (aka Fiorella) to the Californian street circuit.
With a number of brand new cars and almost every team carrying out modifications and upgrades during the off-season, the first round always brings a degree of trepidation as the drivers get to grips with a “green” track. Tickets On Sale for Formula DRIFT Season Opener in Long Beach; 15th Anniversary Season Begins on April 6 – 7, 2018
Long Beach, Calif. – December 20, 2017 – Formula DRIFT Black Magic Pro Championship will kickoff the 2018 Pro Championship season beginning with Round 1 in Long Beach on April 6 – 7. Tickets are now on-sale and can be purchased online via the Formula DRIFT website, www.formulad.com.
“Just in time for the holidays, tickets for our 15th Anniversary season are now on sale,” said Jim Liaw, president, and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “The season kick-off is always exciting with new drivers and cars, it will be sure to sell out.”
The 2018 Pro Championship season will consist of 8 rounds of competition. Round 1 in Long Beach will mark the first event of the 15th season for the Series and the only California round of competition with the addition of St. Louis and the return to Las Vegas.
Tickets are now available for Round 1 on April 6-7 including 2-day ticket packages and VIP tickets and can be purchased through www.formuladrift.com, Ticketmaster outlets, and the Long Beach Convention Center box office. Ticket prices start at $43 for online pre-sale with all seats reserved for Saturday’s competition. VIP experiences are also available for purchase including reserved seating in Grandstand 18, a track walk during opening ceremonies and more.
