With great sadness, we regret to inform you that both RiceboyTV and Turbo Magazine are both closing their doors. Our friends at RiceboyTV have been around for just under a year and a half (although the site only launched earlier this year) while Turbo Magazine has been bringing magazines to us for more than 20 years, and was one of the first magazines to run features and tech information on import cars. Although some may think that we would be happy that there is less competition, this industry is very small, and closures like this are always sad, especially right before SEMA. We wish nothing but the best for John Naderi, Ricky Chu, Justin Kaehler, and the rest of the boys at the Riceboy, as well as Scott Tsuneshi and the crew at Turbo.
We’ve gotten the inside scoop on Tanner Foust’s new ride for 2009, and it will be very different from the Nissan 350Z which he has piloted to back-to-back championships. Tanner will continue to drive for Rockstar, AEM, and Toyo Tires, but Papadakis Racing will be preparing a brand new 2009 Scion tC for Foust. Much like Ken Gushi’s tC, Papadakis Racing will be converting the car to RWD along with performing substantial chassis and drivetrain modifications to prep the car. With Foust’s extensive experience behind the wheel, and the AEM / Papadakis Racing minds behind the chassis prep and fabrication, this car should be competitive in no time!
We’ve been provided with a rendering of the car, and are very excited to see it sideways!
Our good friends at DriftIndy.com will be at this event today. Nothing beats a little drifting in the midwest! Come out and support Drift Indy as they all go out and put on a show. This is the last local event for the year so make sure you catch them before you have to wait till 2009 to catch these great group of Grassroots drifters. Look for some Top 16 tandem action + more! Enjoy. For more information on this event, click the flyer.
If you ever been down Route 66, you already know its historic background and what it meant in its Hey Day. Check out this drift demo that took place at the 2008 Route 66 show. Thank you to Joe Dycus for providing the video(Joe is in the 350z ;)).
2 of the youngest drivers entering the Red Bull World Drifting Championships will be coming from opposite ends of the world. Luke Fink earned his invitation by taking 2nd in the Drift Australia series, while James Deane won the Pro Drift European series against some stiff competition. We interviewed both drivers, check past the jump for the full scoop.
