Frazer Jamieson is one of the Driftcup drivers that we are following this season, in his words this is how he got on at Round 2, Adrian Flux Arena, Norfolk.
If it wasn’t for the main man, David Dollmen, I probably wouldn’t have managed to compete at this round. It’s down to his pure dedication and time he put into getting the car setup and ready for when I got back from working away.
On the build up to this event all I could think of was last year at this venue, when I had real bad car issues. This time I could just work on getting all the lines and clips nailed, instead of thinking about what problem would appear next.
The practice session was nuts, the first couple of runs the track was like an ice rink with so much dust having settled on the concrete from the speedway track around the outside. As the practice session went on the track cleaned up and the grip levels improved.
A couple of adjustments to the tyre pressures helped some more, the track was proving to be great fun.
In qualifying I was on track early in the order, I put in two good runs apart from a small straighten coming through clip four one run.
I was feeling confident so I sat back and watched the rest of the drivers complete their runs. As the results were announced, I found out that I had placed in 26th, I was stoked to go through the battles.
In the battles I would go up against local lad, Josh Phillips, this guys doesn’t even have a driving licence but that wouldn’t make it an easy battle.
I chased first, I was keen to show the crowd how well I could keep with him, I was on his door through the first couple of clips but as we transitioned I managed to run wide. I hit a plastic barrier, giving him the advantage and causing some damage to the car.
A few quick modifications and I went back out for my lead run, Josh managed to stay with me throughout the run putting him through to the next round of battles.
After an amazing day drifting it was time to me to head back to Italy, thanks to all of my sponsors, The E36 Centre and Flat Out Factory, my dad for getting me home from Italy for this event and to Driftcup for putting on an amazing round once again.
