Another driver that we are following this season as he competes in Driftcup is Andrzej Mania, here is how he got on at Three Sisters Race Circuit.
I really enjoyed being back at Three Sisters Race Circuit, its a track that has a great layout with it flowing well but with a very challenging line.
Unfortunately during practice the problem with the wastegate appeared again and after the second practice run it was over boosting.
I managed to control it by not using all of the throttle but it would be difficult to drive around the issue.
The entry was where I suffered most, having to use the handbrake more that I would have liked due to the boost issues, this resulted in the first part of the track being slow.
I picked up speed throughout the run, using the power and grip of the car as best I could, the final three clips flowed really well as the speed increased.
In qualifying I put in a safe run on my first attempt, scoring 65 points, this would be the better run of my two attempts. It was good enough for 11th place, I was through to the battles!
I went up against Stuart Maclachlan in the Top 32, we both made mistakes on the first two runs of the battle making it go ‘One More Time’
On our second attempt I entered too slow, leaving a gap and giving away the advantage. Stuart went on to finish in the Top 4 so I was happy with the result.
I’m looking forward to Round 4 at Teesside, a few more adjustments to the car are needed before then and I hope to be able to put on a strong performance next time.
