Mohan looks to finish breakthrough season strong at Irwindale

October 7, 2008 (Signal Hill, Calif.) – For the second time this season, Kyle Mohan will race in front of a home crowd when Formula Drift rolls into Irwindale Speedway this weekend for the final round of the Formula Drift Pro Championship season presented by Circuit City.

Mohan, who hails from nearby Signal Hill, has been a revelation in the Formula Drift championship this season, and is currently sitting fifteenth in points after three appearances in tandem competition after six rounds. Provisionally, he is a qualifier for November’s Red Bull World Drifting Championships. First things are first, however, and Mohan is focused on getting his trusty Mazdatrix / Cooper Tires Mazda RX-7 Turbo ll into tandem competition one more time this season.

“We have had a great season so far,” said Mohan, as he finished final preparations on his car. “But considering how good it started for us in Long Beach, I want to finish strong in Irwindale. Two years ago at Irwindale was our first event with this car, and we’ve come a long way since then.

“We will also have a lot friends, family, and supporters in the crowd, and we will be aiming to give them something to look forward to. I really want to be in the Red Bull event in November, but the best way to make sure that it happens is to get a good result in Irwindale.”

As he enters this event fifteenth in points, Mohan will automatically earn a berth in Saturday qualifying, where he will fight for his chance to tandem at the House of Drift.
