Mohan invited to Red Bull World Drifting World Championship
October 21, 2008 (Signal Hill, Calif.) — Hometown driver Kyle Mohan will be able to race against his hometown crowd for the second time this season when the Red Bull World Drifting World Championship lands on the Port of Long Beach in Terminal Island, November 15-16.
Upon returning from a World Drifting Series demo in Hangzhou, Japan, Mohan received an invitation to the event as one driver in Formula Drift’s top-16 will be unable to attend. Mohan, who finished the season in 17th place, will be bringing his trusty Mazda RX-7 Turbo ll out for the final time, as a new car will replace it for the 2009 season.
“I’m thrilled to be given the chance to compete in the Red Bull event,” said Mohan, whose shop is based in Signal Hill, a ten minute drive from Terminal Island. “We were pretty disappointed after Irwindale, but we’ve had some good fortune and now we’re happy to get the chance to compete in the Drifting World Championship.”
Catch Mohan on Speed Channel
Speed Channel’s coverage of the 2008 Formula Drift Pro Championship begins this Sunday at 4pm (EST), with coverage of the season opener from the Streets of Long Beach. That event saw Mohan qualify in 15th position, before he advanced to the great eight and final four. A broken gearbox meant he would finish fourth.
Formula Drift coverage on Speed will air over nine Sundays at 4pm (EST).
