Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge Results; Daigo Saito Takes the Victory

Long Beach, Calif. April 12, 2014 Formula DRIFT hosted the Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge during the 40th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Daigo Saito in the Achilles Radial Lexus SC430 takes the victory.

The Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge for the second consecutive year brought motorsports action under the lights during the annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach with a filled capacity within Turns 9, 10, and 11 of the famous street course. Sixteen of the top Formula DRIFT drivers competed for a $25,000 prize purse. Eight vehicle manufacturers and seven tire companies were represented in the competition.

It is an honor to be able to bring drifting to the masses during the 40th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, stated Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. And to be able to showcase our sport for the second year in a row under the lights on the city streets is something special.

2014 Formula Drift – Round 1 Results

Congratulations go out to Chris Forsberg for taking the win at Round 1 of the Formula Drift series in Long Beach.

Congratulations are also in order for Kenny Moen taking 2nd and Michael Essa taking 3rd. This is a great start to the season and we look forward to what round 2 brings.

2014 – SOLB – Formula Drift Media Day

So the season starts here and starts now. The mean streets of Long Beach California. We have had the privilege being a Media Partner with Formula Drift over several years now and as they celebrated 10 years last year, we get the opportunity to do the same this year. So as the season begins, we hit Media Day to get some early impressions on cars and enjoy some drifting. It was a good day overall but as Long Beach is known to do. It took several victims out the gate. Dean “Karnage” Kearney and Ryan Tuerck both went in to the tire walls backwards sending them back home for repairs. We should be seeing both of these drivers back at it Friday morning. Enjoy some of what we shot below.

Long Beach, Calif. March 1, 2013 Formula DRIFT has announced the entry list for the Motegi Racing Super Drift Challenge on April 19-20, part of the annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach weekend. Sixteen drivers and two alternates have been named to compete for the $25,000 prize pool.
