“This is the largest field ever hosted by Evergreen Drift and we are especially excited to kick-off another fantastic season at Evergreen Speedway,” said Kelly Hale, Drift Director for Evergreen Drift. “We’ve opened up two all new trackside-seating areas for our fans, one at the final clipping point and the other at the main straight that will really blow your hair back. Formula Drift Pro Am All Stars Competition
What is the Formula Drift Pro Am All Stars Competition?
Quick Background:
The 2011 FD ProAm program continue to push and evolve how a driver becomes a pro. Each of the 8 regional FD ProAm affiliates staged a multi-round championship. At the end of their respective seasons, the top drivers were awarded FD Pro Licenses. Unlike in previous years when it was just a one-day “search”, making it almost a gamble for drivers if they had a good day or not. This current program makes drivers learn to function as a team; budgeting their season and planning for multiple events. Through a more rigorous program, FD rookies are making an impact immediately like 2011 Rookie of the Year leaders Odi Bakchis and Walker Wilkerson.

April 7th, 2010, the day started at 1 p.m. as the drivers begin preparing for today. Today was the first round of Pro Am at Evergreen Speedway. The day looked very promising with no clouds insight. The day before there were over 16 drivers registered for the event. Everything was going fine and things were great. As the day progressed, we learn that more than half the drivers that were currently registered could not make it due to car troubles, the usual. But the people at Evergreen did not look at this at a negative aspect. Instead they did what they could to make the day enjoyable and presentable to the crowd. Around 2:30 p.m. the drivers that were there began practicing the 5/8ths part of the track. This was new to most of them because it is much longer and requires much more speed than the usual 3/8ths that they do. Everyone was prepared to what they had to do later that day. They were practicing over and over to get that 5/8ths down, if anyone knows the track they would think it is scary just by glancing at the length of the track. Everything had to be perfect. Things were going great until the problems started to appear. Cars were just not able to withstand the intense runs that the drivers had to perform. Clutches, motors, turbo leaks, anything you can imagine happened. By the end of the night only about 4 drivers were able to continue to the actual qualifying rounds. In the end, there were three that stood at the top. Those three were Ian Fournier, Peter Funatake, and Mike Phillips, all great drivers who had the endurance to make through the long 9 hour day.

Evergreen Drift 2010 Pro-Am Schedule & Info
Evergreen Drift announces 2010 Pro-Am Affiliate Championship Series sanctioned by Formula Drift at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA
Evergreen Drift is excited to announce plans for the 2010 season that include a Pro-Am championship series sanctioned by Formula Drift.
Evergreen Drift hosted a highly successful Pro-Am event for the first time in 2009. Fourteen drivers took to the track competing for the four available invitations to compete in the Pro-Am National Championship that took place at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, California this past week. Evergreen Drift was represented by a total of six drivers at Nationals as two of Evergreen’s drivers earned their invitations at the Vegas Drift Pro-Am earlier in the season.
The Formula Drift Pro-Am Nationals was the last stop of the season for the top Pro-Am drivers from across the country where they battled to earn a license to compete in the Formula Drift professional series. Evergreen Drift is very pleased to announce that Evergreen Drift competition veteran Ian Fournier was the overall event winner and Pro-Am National Champion. Of the six drivers representing Evergreen Drift at the 2009 Nationals four earned their professional Formula Drift Championship Series license.
