Top 7 Cars to Turn Into Drifters

Posted on March 3, 2016 by George

Do you possess mechanical aptitude? If so, you might enjoy transforming some high-powered sports cars into drifters. Today, the Japanese racing sport of “drifting” has gained popularity around the world. This daring, high- adrenaline activity delights racing fans. In order to entertain crowds, daredevils drive modified sports cars designed to lose traction in the rear wheels when the driver swerves. Mechanics transformed these ordinary, yet powerful, vehicles into supercharged drifting beasts, with their rear slip angle exceeding their front slip angle by a significant margin.

Of course, not just anyone possesses the remarkable hand-eye coordination required to successfully steer a drifter. You’ll require precision driving skills. In addition, you’ll want to begin developing driving maneuvers for this sport with a fairly well-padded wallet to insulate you against life’s occasional hard knocks. Knowing the best base cars for your new sport gives you a strong early advantage.
This article identifies the best base models for this sport.

Key Attributes of a Drifter

Experts maintain that the best qualities to render a base vehicle suitable for drifter consideration include.

  • A Lightweight Body

  • Rear Wheel Drive

  • A Manual Gearbox

  • An Engine Packing a Lot of Horsepower

  • Limited Slip Differential (LSD)

  • A Reliable Clutch

  • Modified Suspension and Struts

Since you will want to modify a base vehicle’s original design in order to create your drifter, experts advise paying close attention to issues of weight distribution. A 50:50 ratio between front and rear axles produces superior drifting. You’ll change the car to create your overcharged drifting car, so you’ll need to know the original design thoroughly in order to achieve your desired modifications. Continue reading →

The Unique yDirty3 Q45 Build Of Ernie Gonzalez

Here at Everything Drift we love unique builds. We like to see someone, tell somebody that they can’t do something, and that person turns around and proves them wrong. In Our Eyes It Is Called Inspiration and Drive. Here is a build inspired by our good friend Ernie Gonzalez of his personal drift car. Ernie, a big supporter of the drift community, and of unique builds with thinking outside the box in this one. He is an amazing person who inspires people to do something different and to achieve their dreams.

When I first saw this build taking place, I could not wait for it to get done.  A Q45 was a car that not many people have built into a drift car. Seeing what Ernie has done to this car has been a long road and a exciting build to follow. He has encountered many difficult challenges with this build and found every perfect way around it to make this car completely unique in every single way. Here is his inspiration in building this car and our inspiration on encouraging fellow drifters to think outside the box and never except an answer of “it can’t be done” or other people telling you not to do it. Pick up a build, stick to it and encourage yourself to push forward and build a car, something unique in your own way, which in the long run will turn heads and break necks like this beautiful drift machine Q45.

It seems like people with short names get all the credit in the aftermarket car scene. What LJ, RJ, and Ron B are to the Honda and Acura emblems, Non is to Nissan. Back when the B-series motor was just starting to get popularity, Non was going SR. For his latest project with JP Aerodynamics and Enonvativ Force, Fujita went back to his roots – his K roots.

Nostalgic Sunday: Sam Hubinette’s Chargers – 2007

Posted on November 28, 2015 by George

After spending all day today and part of yesterday with the Mopar Drift Dodge Charger.  I felt it was appropriate to revisit with the chargers for all that had missed it the first time we had it up on the front page or just wanna get a 2nd look at the beast I got to learn the inside and outside of while being at the DUB Car Show representing for Fromula Drift.

Sam Hubinette has been dominant in Formula D, driving 2 different MOPAR vipers to series championships. However, with Mopar’s re-introduction of the Charger,  the powers that be decided that Sam should probably jump into this elongated, heavy chassis and make it into a drift car. While the battle to make this bloated detroit muscle has been long, the car is now ready for battle. Continue reading →

We bumped into Eric O’Sullivan at the Formula D final at Irwindale, and when we heard about his F20-powered AE86, our ears perked up. A few months later, post SEMA and holiday rush, we finally got the chance to get the car photographed and sit down with Eric to talk about his car, and boy were we in for a treat! Hopefully, Eric will find a way to bring his car stateside and find a way to get into a Formula D event or two! Continue reading →
