• Hübinette hungry for a final win in his Mopar® Drift Dodge Viper before switching to the 2009 Mopar Drift Dodge Challenger
• Red Bull Drifting World Championship this weekend in Long Beach, California
Center Line, Mich. — Team Mopar® driver Samuel Hübinette has proven himself among the elite drifters in the U.S., with two Formula Drift (FD) championships and a series-high nine career FD wins. The man known as the “Crazy Swede” will soon have the chance to test his mettle against the best drifters from around the world at the Red Bull Drifting World Championship, scheduled for Nov. 15–16 in Long Beach, Calif.
Hübinette will do battle with 31 drivers from 12 nations. The 32-car field, which includes 17 current and past champions, is invitation only. The event is sanctioned by the FD Series.
A Newport Coast, Calif. resident and native of Sweden, Hübinette finished second in the final 2008 FD points standings, with three podium finishes (Long Beach, Vegas, Seattle) and three No. 1 Qualifier awards (Long Beach, Seattle, Sonoma).
The Team Mopar veteran recently attended the 2008 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, where he and his NuFormz Racing team owner Shaun Carlson revealed the brand-new 2009 Mopar Drift Dodge Challenger, which Hübinette will debut next season on the FD Series. The “Crazy Swede” would love to capture one final win in his trusted Mopar-powered Viper before transitioning to his new drift machine.
“I’m really excited to go head-to-head with the greatest drifters in the world,” said Hübinette. “Winning the Red Bull championship would be huge. It would mean a lot to take home a trophy there because the skill level will be so high. You will really have to bring your ‘A’ game. We’re changing to the Mopar Drift Dodge Challenger next year, which we just debuted at SEMA, so it would be great to send out the Mopar NuFormz Drift Dodge Viper SRT10® with a victory.”

70 Years of Mopar
When Chrysler bought Dodge in 1928, the need for a dedicated parts manufacturer, supplier and distribution system to support the growing enterprise led to the formation of the Chrysler Motor Parts Corporation (CMPC) in 1929.
Originally used in the 1920s, Mopar (a simple contraction of the words MOtor and PARts) was trademarked for a line of antifreeze products in 1937. It was also widely used as a moniker for the CMPC. The Mopar brand made its mark in the 1960s – the muscle car era. The Chrysler Corporation built race-ready Dodge and Plymouth “package cars” equipped with special high-performance parts. Mopar carried a line of “Special Parts” for super stock drag racers and developed its racing parts division called Mopar Performance Parts to enhance speed and handling for both road and racing use.
Today, Chrysler LLC’s Global Service & Parts division is responsible for the manufacturing and distribution of nearly 250,000 authentic Mopar replacement parts, components and accessories for Chrysler, Jeep® and Dodge vehicles sold around the world. To assure quality, reliability and durability, all Mopar parts and accessories are designed in strict adherence to Chrysler engineering standards.
