Rhys Millen Racing: Motorsport Relationship Ends With Hyundai

Hyundai ends North American motorsport programs to focus on new marketing strategies.

Rhys Millen Racing – Huntington Beach, CA – September 26, 2012

For the last four seasons, Rhys Millen Racing has proudly represented Hyundai in North American Motorsports. The RMR programs have demonstrated the performance and reliability of the vehicles Hyundai sells everyday. However, following the conclusion of the 2012 Formula Drift and Global RallyCross Championship season, this relationship will come to an end as Hyundai’s Marketing Group focuses on new strategies.

 

From podium finishes and X-Games appearances in the Global RallyCross Championship to event wins in the Formula Drift Championship and world records at Pikes Peak, both RMR and Hyundai have much to be proud of. RMR is also proud of its award-winning SEMA custom vehicles such as the RM460, RM500, and RMR Signature Edition Equus. The staff at RMR is thankful for the opportunity to have designed, assembled, and competed with race cars featuring Hyundai’s newest and most exciting vehicles.

Formula D Rd.6 AFTER DARK Coverage.

The weekend of August 24-25 Formula D made it 6th stop of the 2012 season at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This round always manages to be full of thrills and excitement for both fans and the drivers.  This time around the driver would be facing a new layout for the Vegas round.

Hankook’s Rhys Millen And Fredric Aasbo Score First And Second Place Finishes At Formula Drift Round 6: After Dark

WAYNE, N.J., August 27, 2012 – Rhys Millen was at the top of the winner’s podium again this weekend after scoring a first place finish at the sixth round of the 2012 Formula Drift season in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Millen’s first place victory comes only weeks after winning the 2012 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, setting a new world record time in doing so.  Millen’s Hankook teammate Fredric Aasbo, in his Hankook Scion tC, finished the race in second place making it a double podium finish weekend for Hankook’s Formula Drift program.

Competitors rolled into Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the event to a new track configuration and throngs of excited fans.  Extra grandstands were added this year to accommodate the increase in attendance for this unique nighttime race which saw fierce competition right up to the final round. Rhys Millen is Victorious at Formula DRIFT Round 6: After Dark; Championship Will Come Down to Final Event of the Season

Long Beach, Calif. – August 26, 2012 – Formula DRIFT returned to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for Round 6: After Dark. Rhys Millen in the RMR / Hankook Hyundai Genesis Coupe takes the victory and moves up to third place in the overall points standings leading into the final event of the season.

Round 6: After Dark brought drifting back to Sin City and treated fans to a night spectacle that included the Vegas ProAm championship, Slammed Society car show, Targa Trophy display of vehicles and more. The Driftstream saw an estimated 150,000 viewers in a 24-hour period.

“The Las Vegas round of competition is always one of the most action-packed, but with a completely new course it challenged the drivers and excited the fans,“ said Jim Liaw, president and co-founder of Formula DRIFT. “Each year we have seen an increase in attendance and have accommodated with the addition of extra grand stands. This was a very exciting event to lead into the championship round in October. This was another tight championship chase with three former champions in the top five.”  Continue reading →
